Aux côtés du Mans Classic depuis sa création en 2002, Richard Mille célèbre ce vingtième anniversaire avec un garde-temps aux couleurs de la mythique course automobile : la RM 029 Automatique Le Mans Classic. Travaillant avec North Thin Ply Technology® (NTPT®) depuis 2013, année où elle a sorti la RM 011 Carbon NTPT®, la manufacture poursuit sa collaboration mais avec un autre matériau : le quartz. Similaire à la fabrication du Carbon NTPT®, celle du Quartz TPT® diffère cependant par l’usage de fibres de silice. Bien que la maison horlogère ait déjà eu recours à ce type de matériau, qui apporte plus grande durabilité et résistance à la chaleur, ce n’est pas pour autant qu’elle se repose sur ses lauriers. La RM 029 Automatique Le Mans Classic en est la preuve « vivante » car, pour la première fois, Richard Mille propose une lunette composée de deux couleurs de quartz. En effet, dans celle-ci, constituée de Quartz TPT® vert, sont incrustées des bandes de Quartz TPT® blanc, ce défi technique étant rendu possible grâce à la structure du matériau qui résulte du processus de fabrication TPT®.
Quartz²? Richard Mille has been a partner of the Le Mans Classic since its creation in 2002 and is celebrating this 20th anniversary with a timepiece in the colors of the legendary car race: the RM 029 Automatic Winding Le Mans Classic. The Manufacture has been working with North Thin Ply Technology® (NTPT®) since 2013 – when it released the RM 011 Carbon NTPT® – and is continuing its collaboration, but with another material: quartz. While similar to the production of Carbon NTPT®, that of Quartz TPT® differs, by the use of silica fibers. Although the watchmaking company has already resorted to this type of material, which provides greater durability and resistance to heat, it is not resting on its laurels. The RM 029 Automatic Winding Le Mans Classic is “living” proof of this, since Richard Mille is offering its first ever bezel made in two quartz colors: green TPT® quartz inlaid with strips of white TPT® quartz,. This technical challenge was made possible by the structure of the material resulting from the TPT® manufacturing process.
