Movie Review: Spirited

Spirited Movie Review

by Tessa Tierney, 502

So this month, my family and I are going to watch a Christmas movie every Saturday. Last Saturday, we watched a new one featuring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds (my two favourite actors), called Spirited! I thought I would share with you what I thought of it and do a brief summary of the plot! First of all, wow. This movie is amazing in my opinion! From the music to the acting, to the story itself, everything about Spirited is great. The public thinks it deserves 4/5 stars, but I disagree. I think Spirited should get 5/5 stars! I love this movie so much, it’s definitely my new favourite Christmas movie. But enough about what I think--let’s dive into the movie itself! So, we all know the story of Scrooge, right? The grumpy old man who hates Christmas? Well, this is sort of a remix of that. We still have the Ghost of Christmas Past (Sunita Mani), the Ghost of Christmas Present (Will Ferrell), and the Ghost of Christmas Future (Loren Woods), but with new humans, such as Clint Briggs (Ryan Reynolds) and Kimberly (Octavia Spencer). Oh, an important detail is that Clint is possibly the worst human being on planet Earth. The Ghosts see this and decide they want to haunt him, only to have their request turned down by their supervisor, Jacob Marley (Patrick Page). But after some persuasion, Present convinces him to let them haunt Clint! Turns out, that’s gonna be harder than they thought. As love, hate, and everything in between get in the way of the haunt, problems start to unfold involving Clint’s coworker, his niece, and Present himself.
