NEGLECT YIELDS DISAPPOINTMENT - CONTINUED IT BECOMES RAGE AND ANGER

Hilbert Morales EL OBSERVADOR The working class of San Jose, CA often refuse to comment about local issues which have been neglected by City of San Jose Administration and its elected officials. On January 1, 2019 the official minimum wage becomes $15 per hour which equates to $31,200 per year. This in a Silicon Valley micro-economy wherein the mean income is $85,000 per year. The neglect by many public policy decision makers is apparent and disappointing. Especially when one considers that much more attention is paid to the needs of business and commerce than to the needs of the working-class residents who have head of family household responsibilities and duties. It is outrageous that no elected official has convened a hearing to learn more about the challenges ordinary folks face in this community. Gentrification deals with the displacement caused by corporations whose plans bring l2,000 employees to their corporate facilities. Civic leaders habitually respond to the needs of these profit-oriented firms. Their neglect of addressing the many issues which need to be placed upon the conference table so that each issue may be addressed. When my friends talk to me about 'the affordable housing shortage', I often see disappointment on their faces because local agencies and officials are not proactive in anticipating the volume of housing

units needed. About 25% needs to be 'affordable housing' located within zoning areas wherein higher priced housing is located. Service personnel who earn low salaries need to be located within 5 miles of their job sites. It is totally wrong to ask these low wage employees to commute from homes located 2 hours of commute time away. Civic demographic data indicate continued population growth. Whose responsibility is it to transform that data into an estimation of near future affordable housing needs? Google has plans to develop corporate facilities near Diridon Transportation hub which will employ 12,000 individuals who have technical training as coders. Most coders I know are Caucasian. How is it that our local high schools and community colleges are never informed proactively that Google will need technical employees who have knowledge and ability to code? Is an effort made to inform those who train students from low income communities? It seems to me that a high communications gap exists which contributes to the current situation of firms not employing enough women or persons of color. I know it takes time to communicate and to train, but these efforts must not be neglected. How do we get those who generate the data to ask themselves, “Who needs to know?” and then responsibly make an effort to convey information which leads to timely training of unskilled individuals (especially women and low-income folks who are usually persons of color)? To many administrators, executives and planners do not analyze and project

the domino effects of their plans. If they did, they would have some idea regarding “Who needs to know” proactively. It is fortunate that many ordinary working-class folks do not know how many Fortune 500 corporations which distribute dividends, do not pay any income taxes (recently reduced down from 35% to 21%). Yet every employed resident religiously files their IRS 1040 income tax statement and pays their income taxes. If they knew, they would become outraged; angry; and disappointed because what is transpiring is simply not right or fair. These actions lead to income disparities and contribute to the concentrated wealth. It is no wonder that some 65% of this nation's wealth is owned by only 0.1%! I get very concerned when Mr. Trump, as CEO/CIC of this American nation decides to shut down portions of the Federal Government simply because his demands for $5 billion for ‘That Wall’ are not funded by the U.S. Congress. Where is the detailed planning and cost estimate for the wall that he envisions is needed? Will a similar wall be constructed along the American-Canadian border? And what steps are being taken (and cost estimated) to 'shut down' the immigration of those who arrive at the 50 international airports with visitor's visas. And why not also include the illegal human and drug trafficking which happens at all borders and international airports? I note that hardly is the data revealed that the current volume of refugees seeking asylum or crossing to take advantage of seasonal harvest work is now 20% of prior volumes (An improved economy

I really get outraged and angry when I consider that no elected official nor high level civil servant presents the rationale for having every unemployed person receive 'a guaranteed annual personal income' which enables recipients to pay for housing (rents), food, clothing, education and training. No one mentions the obvious: when folks live monthly check to monthly check, the entire amount of funding received immediately is expended in a local microeconomy. Those funds enable the individual recipient to continue being an involved consumer essential to sustaining the American Consumer Economy which is what really sustains America as a 'super-power'. So, it is essential that corporation pay a fair share of taxes which enable 'guaranteed annual personal incomes' because our domestic economy needs those folks as consumers with money to spend (and make choices).

Mr. Trump's attempt to extort $5 billion for 'That Wall' is outrageous because by shutting down 25% of Federal government impacts some 800,000 federal employees who use their monthly paychecks to pay their bills. These innocent folks will end up paying late fees and damaged credit ratings because of late payments. This decision and strategy is not right because it injures employees who did not create the undocumented immigrant issue. When will the Federal government increase staffing of 'special immigration court system' which can process less than 20,000 cases per year and is not effectively dealing with a backlog of 800,000 cases. The result is adjudication delays which lengthen retention of those refugees who are asking for asylum.

Some folks I talk to simply have tuned out because whenever they tune in, they become cynical, disappointed, enraged, or angry at the short-sighted ineffectiveness of certain business logic which contributes to increasing number of homeless - some of whom were former employees replaced by robots and automaton or simply moving production jobs offshore to wherever lower wages are paid. That is what some firms have done who park their profits offshore in order to avoid payment of their fair share of taxes needed by government agencies to fund social services and sustain the infrastructures we all use daily (e.g. roads, public transportation,

Mainstream media has focused upon separation of families and two juveniles who died while being detained by Homeland Security Agency practices. There is much anger and extreme disappointment in the community. These are all consequences of making policy decisions without first learning the truth, facts, and acquiring the needed useful know-how. Let us all resolve to give voice directed to the right party during this coming 2019 New Year. Our frustration, disappointment, rage and anger can be transformed into the energy required for actions which hold civil servants and elected official accountable and responsible. These proactive actions will give us all some satisfaction and comfort because we did the right thing for the right reasons. Enjoy the 2019 New Year!

Charitable giving is a significant part of many people's lives and budgets and individuals are often eager to give back and lend a helping hand to those in need. Unfortunately, not every organization seeking a donation is exactly what it claims to be. If you're not careful, you could wind up losing your well-intentioned money to a scam. Don't let the threat of scammers keep you from supporting the causes you care about. By staying educated and informed about charity cons, you will be prepared to spot a scam and avoid falling victim to fraud. Recognizing common scam periods While scams and other ploys can arise at any time, they often increase while emotions are running high - like near the holidays or following a natural disaster - when people let their guard down and are eager to support those in need. Such scams may request donations from you over the phone, through the mail, via email or even on social media. They might include charity names that are very similar to legitimate charities, or even mention recent genuine emergency relief efforts. Their goal is to look as authentic as possible in hopes of tricking you. Some of them are very convincing, but you can protect yourself with these fraud awareness tips from Western Union. Take your time Be wary of any sense of urgency to donate. Scammers will try to work quickly, urging you to donate before you find any holes in their story. "If you get a phone call where someone is wanting a donation, don't act right away. Do your research and donate to a recognized charity," advised Western Union Senior Manager of Anti-Fraud Operations John Skoglund. Remember, authentic charities won't push you for an immediate response, and will be happy to accept a donation at any time. Do your research

Be cautious of email links Some donation requests may come through emails that house fraudulent links taking you to look-a-like websites. These websites have phony donation pages where fraudsters can capture your personal and financial information. Instead of clicking on links in a donation request email, open a new browser window to navigate to the charity's official website and donate there. Trust your instincts Don't ignore your own concerns regarding a charity's legitimacy and never assume you're "just being paranoid." If you notice any red flags or feel uncertain about the situation, don't donate. You may just be right after all. Reach out for help If you get a fraudulent charity donation request and you've sent them money via Western Union, call the company's fraud hotline at (800) 4481492 to report it. If the transaction has not been paid out to the receiver, Western Union can stop the transaction and refund your money. that hasn't been making us happy or hasn't been contributing to good health. It may be a commitment to stop smoking, to lose weight, to exercise more regularly or even to just spend more enjoyable time with those we love.

Next identify the barriers that can keep you from taking action. Maybe you aren't motivated enough. Maybe friends and family won't really support your actions and you'll feel isolated or silly. Are there financial limitations that keep you from moving forward? Will a dietary change make your food choices more expensive? Does it seem impossible to find time for that gym or other regular exercise?

Changing behavior can be a good thing, but it's important to remember that change doesn't just happen overnight. There are frequently barriers that can make changing behavior difficult.

American Counseling Association The New Year is a time when many of us think about a new start, about changing something in our lives

In many cases we may not, at first, even recognize that there is a behavior that needs to be overcome. We may even feel a desire to continue that behavior, even a harmful one, by rationalizing the lack of need to change ("Smoking relaxes me."). When you do identify a less than desirable behavior, consider the pros and cons of making the change.

RESOLUTIONS: AIM FOR PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION, IN 2019

Once you identify your barriers to change, then make a plan on how to overcome them. Check if healthier food choices really will raise your food bill. Look at your schedule and see where you could fit in brisk walks or aerobics classes. If it's a difficult change, maybe smoking cessation, check with your physician, a professional counselor, or local hospital program for resources to

Don't try to change several things all at once. And don't give up if you don't succeed the first time you try! Experts say the biggest hurdles are related to setting unrealistic goals – trying to change too much, too fast.

AARP Warns of 'Sticker Shock' at Freestanding ERs "The problem with these facilities is they're located in the same kind of places that we see urgent care – in strip malls and near grocery stores and really convenient locations,” Hutson relates. “So, they look a lot like urgent care, but they certainly aren't." Freestanding ERs are facilities not attached to a hospital or other care facility, which provide services normally available at a traditional hospital-based ER. Hutson says AARP found that at freestanding ERs, patients who asked about insurance coverage are often told that their treatment would be covered at "in network" prices.

AUSTIN, Texas – Confusion by Texas consumers over freestanding emergency rooms has left many families with unexpected and unnecessary high medical bills. A new AARP survey of Texas freestanding ERs finds that, unlike urgent care clinics, many of freestanding ER billings are out-of-network for most insurers. Patients report sticker shock over surprise medical bills that are several times larger than what they expected from urgent care. Blake Hutson, associate state director at AARP Texas, says at first glance it is often not obvious that a facility is an emergency room.

"Consumers are telling us they got an extra bill for a thousand, a couple thousand dollars,” Hutson relates. “And of course, that's not a bill you should get if you go to urgent care. So, it's reasonable that consumers and expect that. " Hutson adds that he also found many freestanding ERs do not comply with state disclosure laws differentiating their facility from urgent care clinics. "I think a real extreme level of disclosure is needed at these facilities,” Hutson states. “So, when a person walks in, they have a full understanding of how the facility actually works with insurance and what the bills will be and what the charges will be from that facility." Health care studies show that freestanding ERs are one of the fastest growing parts of the industry.

Tailgating in Wisconsin is taken as seriously as the game itself, often featuring an assortment of brats, hamburgers, pulled pork, chili, chips, cookies, cake, beer and whatever intricate recipe an ambitious parking lot cook can concoct. Likely absent are such foods as apples, carrots and milk that can help your oral health. Here are some tips for prioritizing good oral health and food options at your next tailgate. Don’t Punt on Appetizers No tailgate is complete without a platter of appetizers, including chips, dips, chicken wings and cheese. Small changes to the menu can make for a big difference in oral health. When it comes to dips, opt for those low in acidity, such as hummus or black bean dip. Acid from food weakens enamel, resulting in tooth decay. Chips might seem like the perfect dipping mate, but carrots, cauliflower and celery offer healthful alternatives that still pack a crunch. Another easy option is a fresh apple salsa that combines apples, red bell pepper, diced red onion, honey, minced jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice, and salt and pepper.

Salads can also be a standout option during a tailgate. Leafy greens contain vitamin K, which produces a protein that shields teeth from tooth decay. Add in broccoli to deliver vitamin C, which helps protect against gum disease. Finish Strong in the Fourth Quarter: Dessert Dessert is a fan favorite but can be one of the worst perpetrators looking to sack your oral health. “When sugar enters the mouth, bacteria found in plaque converts the sugar into acid. This acid dissolves the important enamel that covers your teeth, opening you up to cavities,” explained Dr. Fred Eichmiller, vice president and chief science officer at Delta Dental of Wisconsin. “I suggest dessert options like fruit salad, which pack in vitamins that help you maintain your oral health.” Drink in Moderation When it comes to alcoholic beverages, moderation is key. Red wine might stain teeth (but still has health benefits!) and mixed drinks with soda can decay teeth. If indulging, light beer may be the best option, as it is the least sugary and acidic of the three. Another good practice while tailgating is to rinse your mouth with water throughout the day. Any residue from food or drinks will be washed away. Drinking water will also increase saliva production, which prevents tooth decay. Dr. Eichmiller notes that, ideally, you should drink tap water that contains fluo­ride to strengthen tooth enamel. The next time you plan out your tailgate, think about adding some healthy options to the playbook. You could well be smiling and happy that you did.

David Waddell Chico Sol/Ethnic Media Services Obscured by the staggering human losses in last month’s Camp Fire devastation are the potential consequences of the disaster for Butte Creek’s highly valued Chinook salmon. During a particularly vulnerable time in their lifecycle, the fish now will confront toxic runoff from the inferno. The Camp Fire, deadliest wildfire in California history, started Nov. 8 and quickly became a mega-blaze, engulfing more than 150,000 Butte County acres in Paradise, Magalia and Concow, destroying nearly 14,000 homes and in excess of 500 commercial structures, killing at least 86 people and displacing nearly 27,000. Horrific though it was, long-term, the Camp Fire the blaze will benefit wildlife, biologists say. But in the near term, some species will struggle. Even birds, though able to flee the flames, will have shortterm winners and losers: Raptors in grasslands are better able to spot prey whose ground cover was turned to ash, but other birds will starve from a lack of acorns and berries during the winter. And as for the salmon, the timing of the Camp Fire couldn’t have been worse, fisheries expert Allen Harthorn said. But it will take about three years to know whether and to what extent that spring-run salmon population has been poisoned by a potential witches’ brew of toxins flowing from the extremely hot

wildfire. That’s when most of the surviving salmon that today are juveniles are due to return from the Pacific Ocean to spawn and die.

But the ecosystem, he said, is “highly fire-dependent” and in the long term, both mammal and bird populations will benefit from the fire. “A majority of the natural landscape that burned in the Camp Fire … could not be healthy without burning. … If you truly believe in functional ecosystems, then the longterm impact on wildlife due to the fire is positive.” MANAGE OR LOSE IT Drawing on the practices of indigenous tribes, including the Mechoopda, Chico State geography professor Don Hankins is also a passionate advocate for prescribed and controlled burning. “Most native animals have adapted to fire,” he said. His academic expertise includes pyro geography and land restoration. “A lot of species benefit from fire. … It’s not always doom and gloom.” The prescribed burning he oversees in the university-managed Butte Creek Ecological Preserve, he said, is motivated by a desire to protect the creek’s Chinook salmon: “If we’re not going to manage the habitat around them, they’ll be lost.”

But for this year’s brood, Harthorn said, “The juveniles … are up out of the gravel and swimming around on their own. … They’re at their most vulnerable stage to toxic and excess sediment pollution. And about those toxics: “I wouldn’t venture to guess what you’re going to find in a burned-out home,” Harthorn said. “Pesticides, paint, paint thinners, plastics. … Computers have heavy metals, and most everyone had a computer. … There was asbestos in a lot of the old buildings … Just a whole suite of potentially harmful chemicals.” Less noxious but still a concern, excess sediment caused by erosion from denuded hillsides also could harm salmon habitat. NAMED FOR THE SEASON Spring-run Chinook salmon are named for the time of year that most begin returning to their fresh-water origins as adults from the ocean. In California, historically, the species was abundant from the now-parched San Joaquin River in the south to the northernmost waterways. However, a deep decline led to the species in 1999 being listed as endangered by the state and federal governments. Today, spring-run salmon creeks have dwindled to a mere handful. Butte Creek is by far the Central Valley’s most robust

PORTLAND, Ore. — In an effort to tackle the affordable housing crisis, Oregon could end single-family zoning this legislative session. Oregon would be the first state to do so if lawmakers who support the idea succeed. Oregon House Speaker Tina Kotek is drafting legislation that requires cities with more than 10,000 residents to allow up to four homes to be built on parcels currently zoned exclusively for single-family housing, according to Willamette Week reporters. Mar y Kyle McCurdy is deputy director of 1000 Friends of Oregon, a watchdog group for Oregon's landuse planning program. She said such a proposal could meet the needs of more Oregon families in the places where affordability is an issue. "In areas that are largely already developed, those also tend to be the

Although some greener alternatives exist, most dry cleaners still use perchloroethylene (“perc” for short), a petroleum-based solvent that can be hazardous to the human central nervous system, with exposure causing headaches, nausea, dizziness and memory problems for some people. Perc’s constituent components—phosgene, vinyl chloride, carbon tetrachloride and trichloroacetic acid (TCA)—have also been linked to a range of other health issues, including liver and kidney malfunction, reproductive abnormalities and even cancer. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates perc under the Toxic Substances Control Act, the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act. Luckily for consumers, safer alternatives to perc for dry cleaning are available. The most common comes from a company called GreenEarth Cleaning, whose products and process form the backbone of a large network of independent “green” dry cleaners across the United States. GreenEarth’s process uses biodegradable liquid silicone—essentially liquified sand—in place of petrochemicals. Since liquid silicone is chemically inert, it doesn’t chemically react with fabric fibers, and is safe to use on delicate garments—beads, lace, silk, cashmere—and won’t cause shrinkage. And perhaps best of all, it breaks down into natural elements (sand, water and carbon dioxide) that are safe for air, water, soil and people. In fact, liquid silicone is so safe that it is often a base ingredient in many everyday shampoos, conditioners and lotions that we put right onto our skin with no ill effects. From its humble beginnings in a lab back in 1998, GreenEarth’s system is now used by some 6,000 dry cleaners globally. You can find one near you via a zip code search on the

company’s website. Another green alternative to dry cleaning is so-called professional wet cleaning, whereby fabric is laundered in a computer-controlled washer and dryer that uses water along with specialized soaps and conditioners instead of solvent—and spins its contents much more slowly than a typical home washing machine. The result is that it’s much gentler on fragile clothing. Yet another eco-friendly choice is liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) cleaning, which uses pressurized CO2 in combination with other gentle cleaning agents to dissolve dirt, fats and oils in clothing instead of perc. One often-overlooked option is simply to handwash delicate clothes and fabrics in Woolite or some other non-toxic detergent, and then hang them to dry. If you need your hand-washed clothes to have a finished pressed look, you can take them to a standard cleaner for pressing only. Despite the existence of greener alternatives, four out of five dry cleaners still use perc. Consumers should beware of dry cleaners that advertise their process as organic, given that perc can be considered organic because its petroleum-based chemicals do come out of the ground. If you aren’t sure about that neighborhood dry cleaner, ask them a few questions to find out what makes them consider themselves green. Just because they might recycle hangers or plastic bags doesn’t get them off the hook as polluters if they use perc or other hazardous substances or processes. Conser vation groups are urging the state to better protect California's wetlands in the face of imminent rollbacks by the Trump administration. The State Water Resources Control Board has been working on a new wetlands policy for more than a decade, but has not yet released a final draft. Rachel Zwillinger, water policy adviser for the nonprofit group Defenders of Wildlife, says she hopes incoming Governor Gavin Newsom will make this a priority. "The work has been done on the policy," says Zwillinger. "And it's ready to go. And so, this could be a bold first or ver y early move to protect California's resources from federal rollbacks. And then, it would be a big win for anybody who cares about water quality and wildlife. "

Ailene Voisin, spokesperson for the State Water Resources Board, says the agency is finalizing the last few details and should release the policy for public comment in early 2019. The feds recently announced a plan to strip federal Clean Water Act protections from some nonnavigable water ways, including vernal pools, desert springs, oases, playas and washes. Zwillinger says some regional water boards have allowed wetlands to be destroyed in recent years to make way for more housing developments and agriculture, so statewide guidance is critical. "There are really important wetlands throughout the state and in the Central Valley in particular they are really important for migrator y birds and other wildife," says Zwillinger. EFE Spaniards will celebrate this year's King's Day festivities by opening their Christmas gifts and sharing over 30 million roscones, or Three Kings' Day cakes, a three-percent increase on 2018 figures, according to a baking industry spokesperson who spoke with EFE Thursday. Inicie el año ordenando sus prioridades, procurar una buena apariencia personal y el mantenimiento de un buen estado de salud debe ser primordial, seguir una dieta balanceada, hacer ejercicio varias veces a la semana, tomar una buena cantidad de agua diariamente deben ser prioridades en su agenda semanal. Cada quién puede encontrar un deporte o una rutina de entrenamiento que se acomode a su personalidad y a sus necesidades, el ejercicio físico es vital no solamente le hace lucir bien, le hace sentir bien y lo más importante, le ayuda a evitar padecimientos, enfermedades y condiciones adversas de salud. La espiritualidad es otro factor de suma importancia, no importa la religión o las creencias que tenga, trate siempre de dedicar unos minutos para orar y agradecer el Creador por lo que tiene y por las bendiciones que recibe. No es necesario darse golpes de pecho en la iglesia, en el culto o en la sinagoga. Ser un ser espiritual se basa en algo tan simple como hacer el bien a los demás, respetar el derecho a la vida de todo ser viviente, no sólo de los

seres humanos, también de los animales, los recursos naturales y la naturaleza en general. Trabaje arduamente con optimismo con deseos de superación, el trabajo honrado dignifica a las personas, trate siempre de trabajar en algo que le guste y le haga sentir útil a los demás, eso le llenará de muchas satisfacciones y le hará tener deseos de trabajar por un futuro mejor. THOMAS JEFFERSON’S THOUGHTS ON BIG GOVERNMENT AND BIG TECH

It is this preposterous idea which has lately deluged Europe in blood. Their monarchs, instead of wisely yielding to the gradual change of circumstances, of favoring progressive accommodation to progressive improvement, have clung to old abuses, entrenched themselves behind steady habits, and obliged their subjects to seek through blood and violence rash and ruinous innovations, which, had they been referred to the peaceful deliberations and collected wisdom of the nation, would have been put into acceptable and salutary forms.

Shelly Palmer We live in the age of exponentiation. Everything is evolving at an almost unimaginable speed. New tools, techniques, iterations, breakthroughs, and game-changing discoveries happen almost daily. Today, just staying on top of what’s happening is practically a full-time job. This raises a question: If free unencumbered commercial enterprises are struggling to keep up with the pace of change, what hope do governments have?

find practical means of correcting their ill effects. But I know also, that laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths disclosed, and manners and opinions change with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also, and keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy, as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors.

Declaration of Independence (1776), the second vice president of the United States (1797–1801), and the third president of the United States (1801– 1809), thought deeply about laws and institutions. Here’s an excerpt from a letter Jefferson wrote to Samuel Kercheval on July 12, 1816. I added the paragraph breaks to make it easier to read. The text in bold is carved into panel four of the Jefferson Memorial. He writes:

We’ve seen this question asked many times this year. Facebook, Google, and Twitter all testified before Congress about data privacy. The big telcos have been lobbying for favorable pathways to 5G. GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) went into effect, and American legislators are thinking about a version suitable for the United States. But all of this is symptomatic of a larger problem. We have evolved past our current business rules, regulations, and laws.

Some men look at constitutions with sanctimonious reverence, and deem them like the arc of the covenant, too sacred to be touched. They ascribe to the men of the preceding age a wisdom more than human, and suppose what they did to be beyond amendment. I knew that age well; I belonged to it, and labored with it. It deserved well of its country. It was very like the present, but without the experience of the present; and forty years of experience in government is worth a century of book-reading; and this they would say themselves, were they to rise from the dead.

Our Founding Fathers were exceptionally smart, well-educated people with a common goal. Many of them were very deep thinkers. So, it should not surprise you that Thomas Jefferson, principal author of the

the form of government it believes most promotive of its own happiness; consequently, to accommodate to the circumstances in which it finds itself, that received from its predecessors; and it is for the peace and good of mankind, that a solemn opportunity of doing this every nineteen or twenty years, should be provided by the constitution; so that it may be handed on, with periodical repairs, from generation to generation, to the end of time, if anything human can so long endure. Jefferson’s words are still prescient and profound 202 years on. It is time for smart, well-educated people to debate the scientific and technological issues facing the United States (and the rest of the world) and then empower our government to act in the best interest of the people. We can start with climate change and AI. Proper strategies to deal with both of these by-products of human innovation and technological progress will go a long way toward solving most, if not all, of our other issues. This Can Never Happen Yes, it can! First, become well educated on climate change, on AI, or on both of those subjects. Commit to the practice of lifelong learning and advocate to your inner circle – the people you influence the most. Empower them to do the same. Social media will do the rest. I don’t have the answers to the problems of climate change or how to regulate or control the advent of AI, but Thomas Jefferson’s thoughts make me optimistic about our potential to come together for our common good. If we don’t, we won’t be doomed to remain ever under the regimen of our barbarous ancestors … we won’t be here at all. Author’s note: This is not a sponsored post.
