Hello Mason County! We, at the Kitsap Kids' Directory are excited to become the Mason County Kids' Directory also! We have many friends, family and co-workers who go back and forth between counties, so it seems like a natural fit to share one book! We want to thank the local Chamber's of Commerce for welcoming us and sharing important news and events to be aware of. We look forward to incorporating news on the many schools, businesses, children's camps, classes & health care. Eventually the two magazines will meet at the middle. Please spread the word and share kid-related stuff with us at MasonCountyKids.com. All the listings of information and events on the MasonCountyKids.com site are free. There are of course, paid upgrades, because it's not cheap to run the site! First and foremost though, we strive to focus on our mission by including every single resource we can find for kids!
Another special thanks goes out to the Hood Canal Salmom Enhancement Group for providing a beautiful inaugural cover image! Anytime is a great time to visit the Salmon Center, but Fall is particularly excellent because the colors explode as you explore the trails (often spotting a variety of local wildlife!). While there, you can say “Hi” to the farm animals, pick vegetables from the garden (all by donation only!), and take dogs to the brand new Bark Park located in the back fields behind the community P-Patch gardens. It’s a beautiful place to seek peace and solitude, as well as the perfect location to bring the whole family to play and reconnect with nature. The Salmon Center is the operating headquarters of the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group (HCSEG), a grassroots environmental nonprofit that conducts salmon research, restoration and education around the Hood Canal watershed. HCSEG also runs a small, organic farm at the Salmon Center called, “Farm at Water’s Edge” and works with volunteers to maintain the walking trails on WDFW’s Union River Wildlife Photos by Sarah Wolfe Photography Area. The Salmon Center Bark Park, farm, gardens and trails are open 7 days a week from dawn until dusk.
