The season started last Saturday with the Danville Chamber of Commerce’s Farmers Market throwing the opening pitch. While many of the fresh vegetables were not market-ready, there were plenty of plants, crafts, and locally produced meats. From the look on the faces of these two market shoppers, the donut crop was at its peak. For more information about Farmers Markets in Hendricks County, see the article on page A-9.

When the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra began performing in Ellis Park in 1986, a concrete stage was built and a removable cover added later. A few years ago, a hillside tree fell across the frame of the canvas cover, damaging it beyond repair. Plans for a new replacement began. On Friday, May 21, the new structure, with brick pillars and a permanent roof, will be dedicated at 7 p.m., followed by a concert by the Levi Riggs Band. Funding for the new amphitheater came from the Park’s Non-Reverting Fund, the Town’s Host Fund, and insurance money from the old structure. No taxpayer dollars were used in the construction. Although he had played in the old amphitheater several times, it will be Levi Riggs’ first performance on the new stage. A graduate of Danville High School, Riggs has made his mark in the world of country music. Food trucks and a beer truck will be available starting at 6 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 for adults (age 12 and under, free) and available at North Salem State Bank. Tickets at the gate will be $12 per adult. The Danville Rotary Community Corps is sponsoring the event. The DRCC is a not-for-profit group of volunteers with a commitment to improving the lives of the Danville community through service projects and supporting community initiatives. Funds raised from this event will go back into the Danville community with a primary emphasis on youth. Rain date will be Saturday, May 22, with same timing.

VINCENT ALLEN KIGER, age 80, of Danville, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 in his residence. Born September 23, 1940 in Greencastle, he was the son of William F. Kiger and Hazel Imogene (Ader) Kiger. He married Maria Tracy and she survives. Vince graduated from Fillmore High School in 1958. Survivors in addition to his wife include son Allen Kiger, Danville; daughter Tracy Lawson (Devon), Danville; grandchildren, Emily Hughes, Douglas Diem, Justin Kiger, Savannah Magness (Larry); 3 great grandchildren; a brother Michael Kiger, Indianapolis, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, daughter Kristy Pennington, and brothers Steven and Richard Kiger preceded him. He was in the Army from 1961-1963 which he reflected on as some of the best years of his life. He and Maria owned and operated Kiger Sunoco in Danville from 1971 to 1998 and worked side by side, raising their children to appreciate hard work. Through those years Vince was a staple of the town and a friend to so many. With his kindness for all and his giving spirit he made many lifelong friends. Part of his legacy was that he impacted the lives of the younger generations of Danville in many ways by offering his time, his knowledge and the freedom to “hang out” at the station after hours. He took pride in being able to offer a safe, fun place to grow up and hang out. If you saw him out and about, more than likely he would be wearing a Danny Smith racing shirt. He was an avid race fan and along with sponsoring countless race teams throughout the years, he volunteered his time annually at the Ford Wilson Race of Champions. When Vince wasn’t at a race track, you could find him volunteering at his church, spending time with his family and telling countless stories. His love for God and his family was never doubted throughout his 56 years of marriage to his best friend and true love Maria. Even though his family and community would have loved many more years with Vince, we are at peace knowing he is at home with the Lord. Services will be Friday, May 14, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Chapel of Danville with calling there from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial with military honors will be in Danville South Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Bousley Funeral Home, Coatesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to his favorite mission in Haiti: Mountain Top Ministries. Barnes on April 13, 2018, is notified that a petition for adoption of the child was filed in the office of the clerk of Hendricks Superior Court #1, 51 W Main St, Rm #104, Danville, IN 46122. If the unnamed putative father seeks to contest the adoption of the child, the unnamed putative father must file a motion to contest the adoption in accordance with IC 31-19-10-1 in the above named court within thirty (30) days after the date of service of this notice. This notice may be served by publication. If the unnamed putative father does not file a motion to contest the adoption within thirty (30) days after service of this notice, the above named court shall hear and determine the petition for adoption. The unnamed putative father’s consent is irrevocably implied and the unnamed putative father loses the right to contest the adoption or the validity of the unnamed putative father’s implied consent to the adoption. The unnamed putative father loses the right to establish paternity of the child, by affidavit or otherwise, in Indiana or any other jurisdiction. Nothing Ashley R. This notice complies with IC 31-19-4-4 but does not exhaustively set forth the unnamed putative father’s legal obligations under the Indiana adoption statutes. A person being served with this notice should consult the Indiana adoption statutes. By: Scott F. Bieniek, 30221-84 Bieniek Law, P.C. 3 E. Franklin St. P.O.
