The Round House

Round House Recreation Center - The Round House is located at 633 N. Wood River Ave. It accommodates approximately 200 people in the main area. The Round House is handicap accessible. A limited number of chairs and tables are available for use in the building. It has a kitchen equipped with a stove, microwave, refrigerator and plenty of counter space. Some utensils are available. The Round House is perfect for dinners, showers, recitals, etc. No smoking is permitted within the building and no alcohol is permitted on the premises.

General Park Information

Bandstand - The Ervin Mouish Bandstand is located at Central Park. The bandstand is used for special events and outdoor concerts.

Baseball & Softball Diamonds - Emerick Sports Complex, at Sixth Street, has three lighted softball diamonds; Lions, Jaycee and Rotary Fields and one baseball diamond, Dwiggins Field. West End Park (Walcott Street) have one lighted diamond.

Basketball Courts - Half courts are available at East End Park and Brushy Grove Park. All these courts are open to the public.

Belk Park Clubhouse Multipurpose Hall - Our clubhouse has a multipurpose hall that will seat 168 comfortably, with an outstanding view of the golf course. It has tables and chairs available along with a big screen television and electric fireplace. This room is great for receptions or banquets. It can be rented by contacting Belk Park Golf Course.

Fishing - Belk Park Lake and Emerick Sports Complex have fishing available to the public. The park hours are from dawn to dusk. A fishing license is required for anyone 16 & older. Anyone under 16 can fish without a license when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Picnic Areas - Wood River has several picnic areas which are available in the many parks in town. Central Park has picnic tables under a Gazebo-type shelter where there are barbecue pits and electrical outlets available. There are picnic areas and shelters available at East End, West End, Belk & Soccer Parks. To reserve these shelters please call the Round House at 251-3130.

Parks

Wood River provides eight major parks with over 300 acres of facilities. The parks include:

Belk Park - 234-acres is our largest park located on Rock Hill Road at the eastern edge of the city. In addition to the 18-Hole Championship Golf Course, the present facilities include a lake with fishing, picnic areas, an open field, children’s playground equipment, shelters (which can be rented by visiting the Round House), woodland, open space and a walking path. Belk Park has a clubhouse for rent with a nice-sized multipurpose room and seating for 168.

Brushey Grove Park - This one-acre park is located at the corner of Linton and Miland, next to the old fire station. This park includes a playground facility and basketball court.

Central Park (Round House) - A five-acre park located on Wood River Avenue, adjacent to the High School, offers many activities which include bandstand, playground, gazebo, barbecue pits, Veteran’s Memorial and large activity center commonly referred to as the “Round House”.

East End Park - 13 acres and adjacent to the City Garage on 14th Street, East End Park playground apparatus, basketball court, picnic tables, shelter house and a picnic shelter that measures 20´ x 30´.

Emerick Sports Complex - This 8-acre complex is located on the North End of Sixth Street at Park Lane. The highlight for the children is our new playground. This colorful addition has plenty to keep the young ones entertained for hours. This complex is the sight of our Men’s Softball league and our summer youth league games. This facility contains three lighted softball diamonds and one baseball diamond. There is a concession stand, and a lake for fishing.

West End Park - This 5.5-acre park can be found in the southwest part of town on Walcott St. It has a lighted ball diamond (George Wallace Field), shelter facilities, basketball hoop and playground equipment.

Wood River Soccer & Skate Park - 43 acres that contain two lighted regulation soccer fields, one unlighted practice soccer field, a walking path, playground apparatus, skateboard park, ample parking, a concession stand , stadium bleachers to view the playing fields, and a picnic shelter.
