SONOMA COUNTY WINE AUCTION BREAKS RECORD The 2019 Sonoma County Wine Auction featured once-in-a-lifetime lots and united the region’s most renowned vintners, winemakers, chefs, and generous bidders to raise a record-breaking $6.1 million for local charities. Christopher Jackson, of Jackson Family Wines, and Gina Gallo, of E. & J. Gallo Winery, co-chaired this year’s exclusive, 3-day event. Festivities kicked off Thursday, September 19th, with the best party ever, hosted with the Cline Family at Jacuzzi Family Vineyards. Friday meant sumptuous vintner dinners sprinkled throughout the region, including a bespoke, 4-course experience at Saint Joseph’s Arts Society in San Francisco. Each course was paired with Jackson Family and Hamel Family wines. On Saturday, more than 400 guests gathered in the warm sunshine for the main event at Saralee’s Vineyard on the La Crema Estate. Following a beautiful food and wine reception, the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts Mariachi Ensemble serenaded guests on their way to the auction tent. There, they bid on 40 lots comprising world travel, musical experiences, and exceptional food and wine. One lot – lucky #13 – featured a 378-bottle Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux varietals collection that went for an historic $520,000. A new pour for tasting.
