Sam Gomarsall ———— Community Trust Manager ———— Back in March of last year, we were all set for our “matchday takeover” to take place vs Cheltenham Town FC. We had over 1,000 children who had attended our anti-discrimination assemblies ready to pack the Mead, Plant & Grab stand; we had a showcase of our disability sport participants’ talents on the pitch set to take place at half-time and there were so many other initiatives lined up for a fantastic matchday highlighting the work of the Community Trust. It’s nice to be able to write programme notes before this year’s Community Trust Matchday Takeover with a little bit more certainty that the match will actually go ahead! Of course, in a slightly manic morning the

day before the game, the matchday was postponed due to increasing coronavirus concerns. One week later, Cambridge United launched the ‘Here For U’s’ programme providing practical, emotional and physical support to its’ local community. You can read & see more about what we did in those first few weeks & months on page 20. Throughout this programme, you will read about the impact that we have had in our local community this past year – we hope you feel an immense sense of pride that your football club ‘never went away’ and continued to change lives for the better. We hope you are inspired by the stories involved within this programme: whether CAMBRIDGE UNITED F.C. V STEVENAGE FC
