Meet Liz

She’s living a passionate and purposeful life She’s also a person with a disability who contributes to the community as:

A Tax-payer A Consumer A Voter A Volunteer Liz is able to live as independently as possible because of her support from Hammer.

Liz gives back by sharing her time and talents Liz loves to be involved and is quite good at encouraging others to get involved, too! People describe Liz as kind and warm but also as a woman who greatly values and defends her independence and is not shy about expressing her opinions.

Being able to work is important Liz likes being engaged with people and looks for jobs that enable her to help others. She’s very excited about her new job at a senior living community in Plymouth where she supports the dining services team by contacting residents to take their requests and delivering their meals. Liz gets back and forth to work using Metro Mobility or Dial-A-Ride.

Takes pride in her volunteer work Liz regularly volunteers 20 hours a week at Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners (IOCP). She helps out at IOCP’s food shelf, runs the cash register in the resale shop, and loves spending time working in the daycare area where the children really warm up to her. Liz is also quite involved with her church where she has helped with catechism for over eight years. She sings in the choir, volunteers, and helps at vacation Bible school.

Liz likes to learn new things Liz is very resourceful. She taught herself to knit using an app on her tablet that she purchased by saving up gift cards that she earned through a points-based exercise program at Hammer.

Supported by Hammer for over 40 years Liz enjoys living in her own apartment and the support from Hammer is crucial to help Liz stay as independent as possible. Liz is a fun, upbeat person, she is quick to make friends and enjoys hanging out at the pool at her apartment, participating in BBQs, going shopping or out to lunch.

Liz lives life out loud and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others.
