GSA Unit 19

Unit 19 is a post-graduate (honours and masters) design research unit that was introduced in 2020 by Unit leader Tuliza Sindi at the University of Johannesburg’s Graduate School of Architecture (GSA). The Unit’s annual publication, oNform, comprises the academic year’s research findings and design provocations across both the honours and masters levels of the Unit, as framed through the retrospective and contextual lens of the studio leader and tutor(s). The publication is offered to the architectural profession and discipline as a discursive tool that welcomes scrutiny and critical engagement, toward a maturing of the Unit’s methodologies, mediums, and modes of practices.
