Sueña 1 sigue un enfoque comunicativo, aunque no se renuncia a una pequeña sistematización de los contenidos gramaticales. Las necesidades comunicativas guían la introducción de los contenidos lingüísticos, de manera que la gramática y el léxico quedan subordinados a la función comunicativa. Sueña 1 follows a communicative approach, although it does have some grammar systematization which is very useful for students. Communicative needs lead the presentation of the linguistic content, in a way that grammar and vocabulary are subordinated to oral communication.

Sueña 2 tiene como objetivo lograr que el estudiante alcance una competencia lingüística media, para desenvolverse eficazmente en situaciones cotidianas más complejas. The aim of Sueña 2 is to help students reach intermediate language skills, in order to cope with more complex everyday situations effectively.

Las lecciones ya no se dividen por ámbitos, sino por secciones: léxico, gramática, conversación, escritura y fonética. La secuencia de trabajo gramática y conversación está pensada para que el alumno desarrolle mediante la práctica oral los contenidos gramaticales.
Se pretende que el estudiante desarrolle la competencia comunicativa que le permita diferenciar usos lingüísticos y seleccionar, en cada momento, el más adecuado teniendo en cuenta factores pragmáticos, como la intención del hablante y el contexto lingüístico y extralingüístico.
Units are not divided into areas, but into sections: vocabulary, grammar, speaking, writing and phonetics. The working sequence of using both grammar and conversation has been designed so that the student develops grammar through oral practice.
Students develop communicative skills so that they can distinguish between the different language uses and choose the most convenient one in each situation, taking into account pragmatic factors, like the speaker’s intention or the linguistic and extralinguistic context.
