TURKISH DELIGHT FOR PRO-AM PAIR

DAVENPORT Golf Club teaching professional Jamie Howarth, the current Manchester and District Golf Alliance’s Order of Merit champion, enjoyed a great win in the PGA National Pro-Am Championship.

Howarth was partnered by Davenport member Lewie Wilson and they qualified for the finals in Turkey by winning a qualifier at Stockport.

In the Betterball Stableford, played over two days at the Antalya Golf Club’s Sultan course, they posted excellent scores of 44 and 42 points to clinch the title.

Victory in Turkey capped off a successful 2022 season, both on and off the golf course.

“I played DP World Qualifying School and narrowly missed out at stage two and it was just really nice to have a

crack again after Covid put Q school on hold for a few years.

“I am hoping to get some opportunities to compete in some events on the Challenge Tour as well as the PGA national and regional schedules.

“I’ve also qualified for the PGA Playoffs (where the top three from each PGA Region will compete) at Aphrodite Hills, Cyprus in April where there will be some DP World and Challenge Tour starts up for grabs.

“When not competing, I have been busy coaching clients at The Howarth Golf Trackman studio at Davenport and I owe a big thanks to Davenport head professional Tony Stevens for all his encouragement and support,” explained Howarth.
