A big thank you to Julia and Nigel Horwood, Cherry Chidwick, Lawrence Saupe, Dave Steer and all our wonderful stewards, judges and helpers who give their time on the day and in the weeks beforehand to make show day so enjoyable. Congratulations to all our competitors and our overall Champion Steve Tubbs with Bertie Independence Warrior. If anyone would like to hold an event please get in touch, we are always looking for new venues. We look forward to welcoming you to our early events in 2017 which are detailed below. Thursday 24th November Early Christmas get together with West Sussex Area at The Bat and Ball Country Pub and Haywards Restaurant, Newpound Lane, Wisborough Green, RH14 0EH 7.30pm – £20.00 per head for 2 courses with tea or coffee – cheques payable to BDS Surrey Area. For menu choices and to book please contact Elaine Thompson on 07774 677040 after 6pm or email elaine_thompson01@btinternet.com (bookings required by 14 November please). Friday 20th January 7 pm. Pub Supper at The Punchbowl Inn at Okewoodhill, RH5 5PU south of Ockley, followed by a talk by Geoffrey Hewlett on The Coach Roads to Brighton. (Our Annual Meeting will be held prior to the talk). Sunday 19 February Valentines Drive, Horton Country Park Epsom. Approximately six miles around the Country Park, a shorter route can also be arranged if required. Event Calendar
2016 Achievement Award
Sue Page, Helen Bridges, Louise Woodward and Pearl Hudson are working on the calendar of events for next year. However, we would like to hear what you would like. Do you want more organised drives or shows? Would you like to attend a BDS Trec event? Is a pub quiz something that you would like so that you can socialise with other members when the weather is inclement? Would you like a picnic drive or a pub-crawl drive on a warm summer evening? How about a treasure hunt drive? We would very much like to hear your suggestions as we are running this for your enjoyment. If you do have any ideas, please let Sue, Helen, Louise or Pearl know as soon as possible.
It is good to see so many of our members in the ribbons this year and being successful. It is nearly the end of 2016 so can we please have your results for this year’s shows. We would like all your results by 30th November 2016. We will be announcing the winner in the next magazine. You can see all the results on our website www.eastsussexbds.co.uk.
The next event is on 1st January 2017 from Golden Cross Equestrian Centre and is a joint venture with the Oaks Driving Club. Price is £5 and you get a rosette and hot soup. Please see our website for more details or contact Helen Bridges or Pearl Hudson.
