Retailers look forward to Glee With the last Glee having taken place in 2019 we asked garden retailers what they were most looking forward to by attending this year’s show. What trends and product areas will they be focusing on? In 2019 there was a definite move towards looking for sustainable and green products. Is this trend still as strong this year despite the pandemic?


ike Burks from The Gardens Group said that he would be attending Glee along with a team of buyers. “As I don’t have buying responsibilities, I will use the opportunity to touch base with suppliers,, look for new lines and trends and keep a close eye on sustainability. ustainability. There is still huge interest in this, and we need to keep the momentum up in this area. We will ignore it at ourr peril both commercially and globally. Other trends nds will be looking to tap into are wildlife gardening, organic anic products, and services rather than ‘stuff’. GLEE will be an important milestone in the route back to normality.” Gerald Ingram from Planters Garden Centres will be sendingg all their buyers along to Glee and will be looking to buy from aall the categories that are there. “Although the re research suggests customers look for sustainable aand green products we still find that design, loo look, and value are the most prized attributes. Where Wh possible we look to support green produc products but have had our fingers burnt in the pa past. Other trends that we are looking at in include wildflower products, bee and poll pollinator products, and keeping up to dat date with peat-free products. ““Attending Glee presents an ele element of getting back to normal.
