DISTRICT FIVE PATROL
ABOUT DISTRICT FIVE
District Five serves a population of 406,647 and covers 192 square miles. Features encompassed in District Five include Lone Star College University Park, Prairie View A&M University-NW Campus, US 290, State Highway 6, Beltway 8, and the Grand Parkway. John Shannon is the captain.
ABOUT CAPTAIN JOHN SHANNON
Captain Shannon is a 34-year veteran of the HCSO. During his tenure he has worked in Detentions, Patrol, Criminal Justice and Communications. He has served as the Night Patrol commander, Commander of the 701 and 1200 Jails, Commander of the Mental Health unit and Commander of the Mobile Communications unit. He is a former U.S. Army Paratrooper and holds a Master Peace Officer license. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University, is a graduate of the FBI National Academy (class #253) and the HCSO Leadership Development Institute (Class #3). 31

DISTRICT FIVE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

(Left) District 5 deputies stopped by to visit Ms. Gilda, a member of the community, to wish her a Happy New Year so she wouldn’t spend it alone.
(Right) Zachariah Cartledge with Running 4 Heros travels to our county from Florida and dedicates a run for fallen District 5 deputy Alex Gwodsz.
(Left) Our District 5 deputies engage with members of the community during National Night Out.
(Right) Kroger #137 donated baskets full of cookies to first responders. Captain Shannon and members of the District 5 team paid it forward by passing out the cookies to the community during National Night Out.



DISTRICT FIVE CRIME REDUCTION UNIT (CRU) ACTIVITY

(Left) D5 CRU conducted a traffic stop on FM-1960/Wortham Blvd. while investigating Deputies located Methamphetamine on the driver and the passenger had open warrants.
(Right) D5 CRU along with the Gang Unit had the unique opportunity to speak with at risk children at a local high school. The goal was to educate them on Law Enforcement, drugs, gangs and most of all to bridge the gap.
(Left) D5 CRU conducted a joint operation with Texas DPS narcotics MIG division wherein they seized 40 kilos of meth, 105 kilos of fentanyl, 107 kilos of THC, 707 pounds of marijuana, 3 pill presses and 5 firearms. 5 suspects were placed in custody.
(Right) D5 CRU attempted a traffic stop and the vehicle fled. 4 susp bailed but were quickly apprehended. While searching the vehicle 32 fresh stolen Catalytic Converters were discovered along with over $14,500 in cash.



DISTRICT FIVE PATROL ACTIVITY

(Left) District 5 deputies capture all 3 suspects who attempted to rob the Citgo gas station at 15050 West Road. One suspect was shot by the store clerk who was unharmed.
(Right) While proactively patrolling a high crime area in D5, Deputy Caillet conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle. While investigating he located Cocaine, meth, adderall, oxycodone, Xanax, Hydrocodone and other narcotics.

(Left) D5 Patrol Deputy Dunham did an awesome job identifying 2 Agg Robbery suspects who robbed a store at gun point. Assisted by D5 CRU and K9, both suspects were apprehended after a foot pursuit in the area of 11800 Grant Rd.
(Right) D5 responded to a crash at FM 2920 @ Kermier. A van with 2 restrained kids rolled. Kids look uninjured but were transported as a precaution. Driver of the van was lifeflighted with critical injuries.
