Colorfest is Back for 2021
from Gateway 2021
is Back for 2021!
2020 will certainly be remembered for many life-changing adaptations and cancelations of events due to Covid-19. Thurmont’s Colorfest was no exception, and for the first time in fifty-six years the Colorfest did not happen due to the pandemic. While thousands of festivals were canceled nationally, Colorfest is special and is unlike these other events and festivals that were canceled in 2020. So, what makes Colorfest so unique and special? Colorfest attracts over 100,000 visitors each year making Colorfest one of the largest two-day festivals in the state of Maryland, and is one of the largest outdoor craft shows on the East Coast! That sets Colorfest apart from other events or festivals!
This year the Colorfest is back and anxiously awaiting the 100,000 plus who attend each year and enjoy close to 800 vendors with an amazing variety of crafts, art, jewelry, unique household items, delicious food, and much more. Colorfest weekend takes place every year on the second full weekend in October. In 2021, Colorfest occurs on October 10 and 11. The entire town along with many non-profit organizations will be gearing up for this year’s amazing event. Vendor craft areas and food are located at the Thurmont Community Park, which is the largest vendor area, coordinated by Catoctin Colorfest, Inc. The Guardian Hose Company carnival grounds located on East Main Street also hosts a large number of vendors, along with delicious food prepared by the volunteers from the Guardian Hose Fire Company. Other vendor and food trucks areas include Criswell Chevrolet on Frederick Road, and the Edwin C. Creeger American Legion Post 168 grounds on Park Lane. The American Legion Post also hosts a beer garden and delicious food! You will also find vendors set up all throughout town and along many of the main streets. If you’re planning to attend Colorfest, we recommend planning ahead, getting here early, and leave

Shuttle buses transport visitors to and from these shuttle parking lots on the perimeter of town into the center of all the action in the downtown areas. Once you have finished all of the fun at Colorfest, be sure to stop by one of our local restaurants, orchards or wineries to finish out your day with a taste of Thurmont!
Please note: No dogs are allowed in Community Park during Colorfest.
