Jubilee Park project ‘accelerated’ AN extra $8 million will be spent this financial year on the Jubilee Park redevelopment. The funding changes were approved during Frankston Council’s mid-year budget review. The mayor Nathan Conroy says the project has been “accelerated” after the conclusion of the tender process. “The project has resulted in an accelerated delivery program, with civil works for the carpark now being undertaken concurrently with foundation and structural works for the pavilion,” he said. “This has resulted in an increase of forecast expenditure in the current financial year, from $5.012 million to $13.292 million. This is a cash flow adjustment during a multiyear major project. “As indicated, the total project cost and funding breakdown remains unchanged. There is still financial support from state government, federal government, and Cricket Victoria/ Australia.” As a result, the project could be finished months ahead of schedule. Cr Conroy said “the eastern carpark is scheduled for completion in March 2022 and will then be utilised by the Frankston District Netball Association. Completion of the stadium, southern car park, including main entry, and external landscape integration works is anticipated for March 2023.” The project was initially scheduled for completion in June 2023. The redevelopment is budgeted to cost $35.32 million in total, with more than $20.5 million coming from Frankston ratepayers. The state government has allocated $10,000,000 to works, the federal government $4,560,000, and Cricket Victoria/Cricket Australia $200,000. Brodie Cowburn
