Bike hire statistics are ‘encouraging’ MORE than 10,000 trips have been taken around Frankston on the new orange e-bikes available for hire. 150 pedal-assisted bikes from Neuron Mobility have been put around Frankston as part of a 12 month trial. Since the trial started in January there have been 10,500 trips taken by more than 9000 users. The most popular pick up points include the Visitors Information Centre, Strike Bowling, and the Frankston Railway Station. Frankston MP Paul Edbrooke said

that the statistics are “encouraging”. “It’s great to see such strong take up around the Visitors Information Centre and Frankston Station, which indicates people are keen to use more active modes of transport to make those shorter, connecting trips around town and to explore Frankston’s foreshore,” he said. Frankston mayor Nathan Conroy said that council is “working closely with the operator Neuron to track usage and I’m pleased to see a strong initial take up in Frankston.”

“Neuron are looking closely at the usage data to ensure they continue to place bikes where they will be used most and we are working with their team to ensure the bikes are well presented and the streets of Frankston are kept looking neat and presentable,” he said.
