New bins rolling out to residents PURPLE bins for glass recycling will be delivered to Frankston residents from this week. The bins will be delivered to residents between 28 August and 29 September. The glass recycling program is a state government initiative. The purple bin brings the number of household bins up to four - mixed recycling, food and garden, glass, and landfill. Frankston resident Kerry Rainer said she hopes the new bin will help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

“The new separate purple glass recycling bin is an important step in the right direction, and I encourage all residents to embrace this initiative and learn how they can make a difference,” she said. “My waste journey first began through meeting a member of Frankston’s Gardens for Wildlife program. I was so inspired by her commitment and approach to reduce her family’s waste output. Our household decided to take on the waste challenge as well. Conscious purchasing and

the introduction of FOGO were the main game changers. By reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill and reducing costs by improving the separation of recyclable material, we can create a more sustainable future for the benefit of our community, for our environment and beyond.” Glass bins will be collected every four weeks. Pick-ups begin in October. For more information visit frankston.vic.gov.au/My-Property/ Waste-and-recycling/My-bins/Glassrecycling-bin

Murphy said “the Voice to Parliament referendum will be a significant historical event, so it is important that the community is equipped with accurate information before we vote. That’s what these sessions are about.” “Across the community, locals are coming together to learn about the referendum to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through a Voice. If you have questions, please come,” she said. The referendum will take place later this year. Voting is compulsory for eligible voters. Frankston High School is at 97 Foot Street, Frankston.
