Crucial work of volunteers recognised OUTSTANDING volunteers got their moment in the sun last week on International Volunteer Day. Organisations paid tribute to the often-unsung heroes who give their time to important causes last Monday, 5 December. At Peninsula Health, thanks were given to the 550 volunteers who help keep the hospitals running smoothly. Peninsula Health chief executive Felicity Topp said that the day was to “recognise the amazing work, invaluable support and significant contributions that volunteers provide to Peninsula Health.” “We are proud of all our volunteers and consumer representatives; their selfless and compassionate actions allow us to continue to deliver exceptional care to our community,” she said. Judith Watson has volunteered at Frankston Hospital for eight years. She said her years of service to the hospital had made her “proud”. “I feel that I am helping people get through a stressful situation, and at the same time help put a smile on their face,” she said.
