THEATRE This 2017/18 season marks Carousel Players 46th year of creating live theatre for young audiences in Niagara. At Carousel Players we firmly believe that children’s voices matter; that issues facing children today exist and deserve to be discussed.

Carousel Players productions reflect the ways in which students matter as individuals, learners and member of the community and highlight themes of sibling relationships, feelings, friendship, leadership, perseverance, and creativity. We are so thrilled to be presenting This Will Be Excellent by Jordi Mand at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre. Mand’s play, supported by the Ontario Arts Council, is the story of Daniel and Izzy who are struggling to complete grade six. Determined to ignore their situation, they daydream of meeting their favorite rapper, Arrow. After Daniel’s mother and their principal deliver ultimatums, the pair decide to hatch a plan to make their dream become a reality. They encounter hard realities in carving out their independence in the face of expected responsibilities as they tackle adolescence. Based on Mand’s real-life observations of grade 6 students, this play asks what happens when a young person starts feeling like they can’t keep up with their work?
