The idea for the FOB (Forward Operating Bino Harness) has been kicking around in my mind and in notebooks for years. When we were finally able to dig into this project just over two years ago, our team at FHF Gear started by going through every review we could find on our own products as well as every competitor product. We went through every blog and video and we wrote down the ‘The Goods,’ ‘The Bads’, what people loved, and what they hated. Then we tried to solve all the problems and wrap those solutions into one product. In the end, we came up with what I think is the most technically advanced and innovative system on the market.

The design and testing phases for the FOB took about 2 years, with nearly 30 prototypes tested in over 10 states and 3 countries. We have a hands-on approach when it comes to design, which means every prototype is handmade by me or the team, before we put it through its paces in the field. It’s a process of building, testing it, taking it back, building it, testing it again, and continuing to modify it until we’re happy with it. I don’t want to put something out there that I wouldn’t use in the field.

One of the main goals of the FOB was to make it as modular as possible. Not everybody hunts the same. Not everybody carries the same equipment, and not everybody wants it in the same place. For me it’s being able to set up your kit in a way that you want to use it. Every part and piece of the FOB is designed in a way to maximize the functionality—nothing is included just for style or for fluff.
