PHOEBE MAKES STATE HOCKEY ACADEMY Congratulations to Year 8 student, Phoebe Creek, who has qualified for this year’s Victorian State Hockey Academy for U15 girls. Phoebe has been playing hockey for eight years with KBH Brumbies and is looking forward to improving and learning new skills and training with girls from across Victoria.

LIVIA MAKES STATE & NATIONAL DEBATING TEAM SQUADS Congratulations to Livia Tropea in Year 11 who was selected in the final team of seven to represent Victorian in the National Schools’ Debating Championship (NSDC) in Tasmania. The Victoria Team went on to win the NSDC and Livia has been selected to represent Australia at the World Championships. Livia’s success is certainly well deserved. She was a member of the 2020 State Champion C Grade Debating Team and won a ‘Swannie’ award for best speaker in her division in her first year of DAV debating in 2019. ‘Overall, it’s an amazing opportunity that I’m very excited to be a part of,’ said Livia.

EMMANUELLE FOLLOWS HER FASHION DREAMS IN NYC Congratulations to Emmanuelle Zapris from the Class of 2020 on being awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Parsons School of Design, one of the world’s leading art and design schools based in New York. Emmanuelle will undertake a four-year Bachelor of Arts Degree in Strategic Design and Management. Having studied Visual Communication and Design in Year 12, Emmanuelle is hoping to pursue a career in fashion management at a major fashion house with a focus on sustainable fashion. ‘Studying fashion in New York City has always been my dream and I’m excited to use this opportunity to combat issues of fast fashion and sustainability within the industry in a modern world, by learning to manage fashion businesses that keep the industry creative and fresh while remaining sustainable,’ she said.

Emmanuelle will be following in the footsteps of some famous designers who have also studied at Parsons including Marc Jacobs and Donna Karan.
