Production Company / Producer’s Profile Smarthouse = commercial arthouse and vice versa, linking music, arts and graphic design into the world of film. Smarthouse Films produces feature films, documentaries and commercials. The experimental film The Common Sense by Canadian artist Melanie Gilligan was produced in 2014 and shown at Holland’s leading art institutes De Appel, De Hallen, and Casco. The short films Onderstroom (2012, official competition Netherlands Film Festival) and Nog Tien Minuten (2014, winner Cannes Short Film Festival) were both released in cinemas. This September, the feature length documentary Settling Sea Gypsies will be released and by the end of the year Smarthouse starts the principal photography of the road movie La Holandesa in Chile. Smarthouse was founded by Danielle Guirguis who previously produced Spijt, Razend and De Groeten van Mike and was involved in the making of Komt een Vrouw bij de Dokter, De gelukkige huisvrouw and Zwartboek.
