Balancing the Hard Facts with a Soft Shell BHS Realty's Barry Cryer

arry Cryer is on a mission. Driven, focused and always ready to reinvent himself, he’s excited to approach real estate with a new mindset. Rather than delivering a product or service, he has determined that, first and foremost, he is in the education business. Whether selling residential, commercial, farm, ranch or investment properties, making sure his clients have a clear understanding of real estate basics is the key to his success. “Explaining the difference between a real estate agent and a Realtor really opens peoples’ eyes,” says Barry. While a real estate agent has obtained his license, a Realtor, like Barry, is also a member of the National Association of Realtors and is bound by its code of ethics and professional standards.

A TRUE TEXAN Texas born and raised, Barry saw the writing on the wall when layoffs began at the company he had been employed at for 18 years. Determined to control his own destiny, he enrolled in a real estate investment class. The move to Jarrell kept him close to his investments. He and his wife, Barbara, later decided to sell their holdings, leave their jobs and concentrate on real estate. Barry’s newest project, Jarrell Industrial Park, will feature 20 buildings, each 5000 square feet in size, set on individual one-acre plots. Located at 1000 County Road 308, the 22-acre site is scheduled to open one building at a time with an expected completion date of 2025.

Barry was honored to be asked to contribute to the book “Game Changers,” a collective effort by leading entrepreneurs sharing their strategies for success. He was also awarded recognition by the National Academy of Bestselling Authors in 2016. Outside of his professional pursuits, he is also deeply committed to the Jarrell community. He is the president of the Williamson County Emergency Services #5 Jarrell Fire Department, serves as vice president of Jarrell’s Economic Development Council and is on the Jarrell road and street committee. Personally, he is most grateful for his four children and 16 grandchildren, friends, and his friendships with clients. He manifests this gratitude by donating 20 percent of the commission of every sale to charity; ten percent of the donation is to a charity of the client's choice. What sets him apart is his passion to share his business acumen in a low-key environment—content to build his business, one satisfied client at a time.
