Accessible Travel in Fargo

Fargo-Moorhead attractions like the Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County, The Red River Zoo, Hulbert Aquatics Center, and the Plains Art Museum feature accessible exhibits, allow service animals, and offer additional accessibility support.

The HJEMKOMST CENTER and HOPPERSTAD STAVE CHURCH are fully wheelchair accessible. There are also two manual wheelchairs and two electric wheelchairs for museum visitors. They also offer audio descriptions, ASL, and touch tours for individuals and groups.

PLAINS ART MUSEUM offers Low-Sensory Mondays for individuals and families who prefer a quiet, less sensory-stimulating environment. Art + Autism Workshops explore galleries with hands on activities, snacks, and a chance to create unique artwork to take home.

THE RED RIVER ZOO partners with the North Dakota Autism Center to improve the Zoo’s ability to assist and accommodate guests with sensory processing needs. Sensory bags containing fidget tools, noise-canceling headphones, and other resources are available at the admission desk.

HULBERT AQUATIC CENTER is equipped with a Myrtha warm water lesson pool that is 25 yards long. The lesson pool has six lanes and a handicap ramp entrance on the north end.
