03 - Light - Transparent, translucent and opaque Smart This ac�vity introduces SnapShot and uses a Light sensor to measure the amount of light blocked by Wireless a variety of materials.
What you need Light level sensor (set to the 0 – 1,000 Lux range) Light source (torch or mains lamp) Variety of materials (transparent, translucent and opaque materials e.g. clear polythene, coloured film, paper or card)
What you need to do 1.
Set up the apparatus with the light source poin�ng towards the Light sensor.
2.
Connect the Light sensor to your Bluetooth enabled device.
3.
Use Setup to create a data logging session that uses Snapshot data recording.
4.
Set the screen layout to have a graph panel and a table of results table.
5.
Start the data collec�on, a box will appear at the top centre of the centre screen. This tells you recording is ac�ve (green disc winks) and tells you to click the “Take a sample” bu�on to record the data.
6.
Click the “take a sample” bu�on to take the first measurement with no material between the light source and sensor. This will be the control reading.
7.
Place a sample of material in front of the light source and tap or click in the graph area to take the second measurement. 8.
