Landscape Architecture Portfolio
University of Georgia Spring 2023

Introduction

Degree: Bachelor of Landscape Architecture,

Minor in Horticulture

Year: 1st of 4 years

Institutional GPA: 4.0

Internship Objectives: to learn about landscape architecture in a non-academic setting; to continue my education over the summer; and to improve and solidify the skills that I have gained so far

A little more about me:

I grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia and graduated from Starr’s Mill High School in 2020. I went to Georgia State University during my freshman year of college, where I took art classes and joined the Student Environmental Team, which led me to discover a passion for gardening. While researching career fields related to art and design, I found Landscape Architecture and instantly knew it was a perfect fit. I started studying landscape architecture at the University of Georgia in the fall of 2022, and now I cannot imagine myself in any other field.

I take advantage of every opportunity I can that will give me hands-on experience. During my time at UGA, I have been volunteering regularly at UGArden to further the knowledge gained through my horticulture classes. I also recently participated in a design charrette in Douglas Georgia. The design charrette was an amazing learning experience, and it showed me the value of hands-on experience relating to landscape architecture. During the charrette, I learned how to quickly develop, research, and present ideas and how to produce renderings in a short period of time.

I have gained so much knowledge from the classes I have taken so far, and I look forward to developing more skills relating to landscape architecture.

100 Trees

The 100 Trees project was an introduction to design form. I explored Arc and Tangent in three 5x5 inch models. The first model could only use trees to show the design. Topography was added in the second, and water and groundcover were introduced in the third. Then I produced graphic representations of the final model using a neutral color palette.
