KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Vera Jimenez is an accomplished journalist and meteorologist known for her award-winning work as a member of the KTLA 5 television news team Jimenez attended Santa Ana College and later California State University, Long Beach, where she graduated with honors in religious studies It was during her time at Santa Ana College that she started in broadcasting . She interned at KIK-FM in Orange and then got a job producing traffic for Shadow Broadcasting She landed a fill-in job doing traffic overnights at KFWBAM, and gained experience at KNX-AM, where she was an airborne traffic reporter. She is originally from Mexico but was raised in Orange County. Jimenez has earned four Emmys, three Golden Mikes, and three Golden Pylons Aside from her journalism career, Jimenez is passionate about volunteering and giving back to the community She is a motivational speaker and leads people in entrepreneurship by speaking at events

Student Speaker

Charletta Royster-McNeish is a sociology major who plans to transfer to UCLA this fall She enrolled in El Camino College to gain business education and job skills after being laid off from a 20-year corporate career. Eventually she changed course and is now pursuing a career in higher education, with the goal of becoming a college counselor RoysterMcNeish says El Camino helped her find her true calling in community service and now aspires to help others succeed through education . On campus, she is a graduate of the Student Leadership Institute; served as the ASO commissioner of equity, diversity, and inclusion; and is a lifetime member of the Alpha Gamma Sigma honor society She is also dedicated to her community, volunteering with the American Red Cross, tutoring with Reading Partners, and contributing as a service worker through AmeriCorps .
