Discounts are available on tickets with a regular price of $16 or more. El Camino College faculty, staff, students (with current ASB sticker) and Alumni Association members receive a 25 percent discount on the full price of two tickets purchased at the Ticket Office for most events. For more information about discounted tickets, please contact the Ticket Office. In some instances multiple ticket prices are listed for events that include Student & Senior Discounts.

CHILDREN

The Center for the Arts encourages families to enjoy performances together; however, in consideration of other ticket holders, unless specified, most performances are not suitable for infants and toddlers. Select performances have special prices for children. Contact the Ticket Office for specific availability and details. Children under 5 years old will not be admitted to any ECC Theatre Department plays or musicals. Please note: All persons, regardless of age, must have a ticket. If you have any questions regarding this policy or the age appropriateness of a performance for your child, please contact the Ticket Office.

Events will start promptly. Latecomers will be seated during a suitable pause in the performance. The use of cameras and/or recording devices, including picture and video phones, is strictly prohibited during any Center for the Arts performances, unless otherwise stated.

Limited wheelchair seating is available in designated areas.

A sound amplification system is available for the hearing impaired and with two weeks’ notice, sign language interpreters may be arranged for most events. Contact the Ticket Office for more information.

Featured Artists San Francisco-based songwriting deviants, Tumbledown House, have never been easy to describe. Modern speakeasy, saloon jazz, parlor pop, and Tom Waits-in-a-cocktail-dress are some of the terms used, but none of these successfully convey the band’s incomparable ability to fuse vintage sounds with the modern instrumentation, refreshingly original compositions, and raw energy that we expect from today’s performers.

Experiences during secular festivities and religious feasts began to form the artistic work that was presented on stages a century ago are now commonly known as “folklórico,” or folklore.

KO-EUN YI Pianist October 13 @ 8 p.m. | Tickets $26/$10 | M Korean pianist Ko-Eun Yi was the gold medalist at Cincinnati’s World Piano Competition and Louisiana’s Wideman Piano Competition in 2010. Eun plays with tremendous sensitivity and drama, seen in every performance from her vast repertoire list. Eun will present “The Glory,” showing the role of faith and religion in the music of piano composers Bach, Messiaen, Haydn, and Liszt.

POLLI CHAMBERS-SALAZAR & LOIS ROBERTS Duo Piano Recital March 31 @ 5 p.m. Tickets $21/$10 | M ECC faculty Polli Chambers-Salazar and Lois Roberts present a duo piano recital which will include pieces that were originally conceived as ballets: La Valse by Maurice Ravel and Romeo and Juliet by Sergei Prokofiev. La Valse is frequently performed as an orchestral work, and Romeo and Juliet is a transcription of Prokofiev’s ballet, which was based on the play by William Shakespeare.

New West Guitar Group has developed a widespread reputation as one of the premier guitar ensembles in the world. Founded 10 years ago, the group includes guitarists Perry Smith, John Storie and Will Brahm, who perform covers, jazz standards and exciting originals. Their signature sound comes from an innovative style that highlights rhythm, beauty and virtuosity through combining acoustic and electric guitars.

5TH ANNUAL ECC JAZZ FESTIVAL GALA CONCERT May 5 @ 8 p.m. | Tickets $10 | M This day of celebrating live jazz music through education and performances includes a big band showcase, jazz master class, workshops, and band clinic.

Dedicated to the memory of the late ECC jazz professor Christopher Mello, an evening gala concert will showcase ECC jazz ensembles and guest ensembles in styles ranging from swing to contemporary and from Latin to funk. Directed by Alan Chan

Jarabe Mexicano exploded onto the Latin music scene in 2015, delighting audiences throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Performing on typical mariachi instruments and accompanied by percussion, Jarabe’s musical arrangements feature stunning harmonized vocals in Spanish and English. Traditional boleros, huapangos, sones, and rancheras, upbeat cumbias, revamped doo wop, and other American classics are part of the program.
