Bára Gísladóttir VÍDDIR (2019–20) for nine flutes, three percussionists, bass guitar & double bass Dur. 60′

VÍDDIR is an hour long piece composed specifically for the unique acoustics in Grundtvigs Kirke in the Gísladóttir occasion of Bára’s graduation from the advanced postgraduate diploma program at theBára Royal Danish Academy of Music in February 2020. Since then, the piece has had several performances in various spaces, becoming something different every time, since the space itself serves as the fifteenth performer of the piece. In the following performers’ notes and score, the names of the players are often stated instead of the names of the instruments they play. This was done to personalise the piece and make the rehearsal period and cueing as smooth as possible. The players are divided into three groups (flutes vs. percussion vs. basses) that all contribute to a common dimensional goal.
