Bosch eBike Systems 2023

Bosch innovations for 2023 include a new expanded ABS system for safer braking in all e-bike categories, along with eBike Alarm, Cargo mode, Auto mode, Hill Stop and more features to further support their Smart System Flow app introduced last year.

Developed in close cooperation with Magura, the new ABS plays a central role via their Smart System to deliver safer braking on different surfaces for all e-bike categories.

Wheel speed sensors monitor the speed of the wheels to help prevent locking of the front wheel by controlling braking pressure to improve stability and steerability, particularly on slippery surfaces.

Plus, the new rear wheel lift control reduces the possibility of unwanted lifting of the rear wheel in the event of extreme overbraking of the front wheel, reducing the likelihood of being ejected over the handlebars. New ABS Cargo was specifically designed to meet the requirements and demands of e-cargo bikes to enable faster, safer and more accurate braking when doing regular tasks such as shopping or dropping off kids at daycare.

Developed in collaboration with eMTB athletes, Bosch’s new ABS Trail system makes braking on difficult terrain easier for newcomers, casual bikers and trail enthusiasts alike. The new braking system helps riders refine their technique and performance on trails.

The Bosch Kiox 300 display unit can be utilized to retrieve information about braking behaviour to help analyze habits, such as braking distance and braking time on different surfaces, to help improve overall performance.

Also new for 2023, the Cargo Line drive unit, with a torque of up to 85Nm, is now available with the Smart System for more options and natural support in all riding situations. Developed specifically for this drive unit, the new Cargo Mode offers support of up to 400% of the power output to ensure smooth starting and acceleration even when carrying a full load. Another new integrated feature is the Hill Hold function that automatically prevents your e-bike from rolling backwards or downhill when pushing it uphill. Auto mode is also new via the Smart System — it automatically provides support based on the environmental conditions, i.e., if there are headwinds or uphill gradients, you don’t have to switch riding support levels.

The new anti-theft protection eBike Alarm works in conjunction with the new ConnectModule, and the eBike Lock introduced last year with the Smart System. The new alarm

warns you in the event of an attempted theft, as it allows the position of your e-bike to be determined and thus ensures more secure parking. Also new for 2023, Bosch’s Performance Line and Performance Line Speed drive units are now available on e-bikes with the Smart System. In addition, the PowerTubes 500 and 625 and the PowerPacks 545 and 725 offer optimal energy content.

For longer transport distances, the PowerPack 725 battery delivers the highest energy content of all Bosch battery units to enable particularly long-range rides, even with a heavy load.
