Dwight A. Reed
Dwight A. Reed – Community Leader, Pastor, and Visionary Personality Many know Dwight A. Reed as Bishop Dwight Reed. Dwight Reed is a prominent faith leader, educator, and community advocate out of Des Moines, Iowa. He was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and his family moved to Des Moines, Iowa, while he was still a child. Pastor Dwight Reed has devoted his life to ministry and public service. He is now the Senior Pastor of Christ Apostolic Temple, Inc., beginning in December 2017, where he follows in the footsteps of his father, Bishop Jeremiah Reed. Christ Apostolic Temple has grown to be the largest predominantly African American church in the state of Iowa under his leadership. Under the Christ Apostolic Temple Community Outreach Services (CATCOS) vision of Pastor Dwight Reed, he has increased community outreach programs (food giveaways, school supply giveaways, homeless outreach, financial literacy, mental health classes, youth development programs, etc.). Through partnerships with Costco, Walmart 360, the Iowa Department of Corrections, and many others, he has been able to serve thousands of families across Iowa through these programs. Bishop Dwight Reed's church is not simply a place of worship; it is also a place of hope, education, and empowerment. He has been a major part of changing the J.W. Reed Christian Academy into a state-accredited institution that allows students to be awarded a full college scholarship. Bishop Dwight Reed has also led the community efforts toward health equity through vaccination drives, diabetes prevention workshops, classes in American Sign Language, and more to directly better serve the community. In his personal life, I have seen firsthand the unwavering support of Bishop Dwight Reed's wife, who shares his passion for ministry and serving people. Together, they manifest the core values of faith, family, and compassion.
