5 During the weeks prior to Commencement, the Class of 2022 enjoyed the end-of-year festivities that comes with the spring season. In May, the Upper School gathered for a perfect-weather day for M.A.G.I.C, D-E’s annual intramural sports competition.

Seniors also enjoyed a day out at Luna Park, Coney Island for this year’s Senior Trip.

As well as enjoying their senior selectives, closing out the year with the final farewell assembly.

Then The-soon-to-be graduates gathered together one last time during the Senior Dinner to celebrate each other, days before they would walk across the Commencement stage.

Class Speaker, Charlie Spitzley ’22, spoke candidly about their time at D-E, at times making the audience roar with laughter.

Interim Head of School, Pat Boig, set the congratulatory tone.

Class Dean, Kim Lalli, followed with words of wisdom from children’s stories from her daughter’s bookshelf.

This year’s Commencement marked the Class of 2022’s unforgettable time at D-E.

with Board of Trustees President, Robert E. followingMiller,suit.

Finally, Joe Algrant spoke for the last time as Upper School Principal, reminiscing on his time with the Class of 2022. This year’s Commencement was both a beginning and end in more ways thanAlisonone. spoke on today’s times and her journey in becoming an avid runner and founder of Harlem Run, an NYC-Based running movement. She encouraged the graduates to carve their own path amidst uncertainty.

Alison’s new book entitled, ‘Running While Black’ will be available in October 2022. Please see Class Notes Spring-Summer 2022 for more details. We also had the pleasure of having Alison Mariella Désir ’03 as our Commencement Speaker.

The Class of 2022 were not the only ones who achieved great milestones this year.

...While the MIDDLE SCHOOL

This year’s class of 2026, whose entire middle school experience took place during the height of the pandemic, celebrated during their own Moving Up Ceremony.

11 Middle School Principal, Jonathan Davis, led the charge in congratulating this year’s class as the move-up to the Upper School and beyond. As a division celebration, all Middle School students participated in Field Day... enjoying bounce houses, karaoke, & trivia. meanwhile... a wonderful way to finish the year! Cheers to our students moving up!
