MATURITY BEYOND HER YEARS

THIS LOCAL ABSTRACT ARTIST IS TAKING HER ARTWORK FROM THE STUDIO TO YOUR HOME. WORDS ISIS SYMES Her vibrant artworks show maturity beyond her 27 years incorporating great detail, texture and colour in every piece. “I draw inspiration from all types of patterns and colours in nature – in particular the land and sea,” Brenda says. “I’m forever capturing small detailed photos on my iPhone and using them later for painting ideas and designs; from a coffee spill to a close up image of a fish.”

SHE’S a 27 year-old local artist with big ambitions: to have her paintings shown in every home, office and hotel in Townsville and beyond. This is Brenda Stone’s dream and she is one step closer to living it. Born in Melbourne and raised in Townsville, the young aspiring abstract artist is heading in leaps and bounds when it comes to her artwork. The talented artist has already had her work exhibited in local galleries and restaurants and has also just been commissioned to work with Doble Homes in producing artwork for their display home village. I incorporate trending interior colours in order to accompany modern homes and I also work with interior designers in producing contemporary artwork for each space,” Brenda says. “I’m looking forward to painting for these new homes.”

Brenda is a Calvary Christian College graduate and says she has been interested in painting since school. “I’ve always loved being artistic and creative. My nana was an artist (realistic landscapes) and my sister was very artistic while at school. I remember watching them both and being encouraged by their passion. This nurtured my love for art,” says Brenda. The artist took her passion one step further studying a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree at James Cook University where she graduated with Honours. While many of Brenda’s artworks can be seen on display all over Townsville including in local homes and hotels, the artist hopes to one day have her own studio/gallery. “I would paint all day long if I could!” “I ultimately want to be doing this full time, in my own studio which doubles as a gallery,” Brenda says. “I aim to work with interior designers, builders, hotels and clients to create an eye-catching piece of artwork which features their desired colours, theme and design. It brings me so much joy

doing it and I want it to be as equally satisfying for the viewer.“ When asked which gallery she dreamed of having her work shown, the response was simply humble. “Possibly the GOMA (Gallery of Modern Art – Brisbane) but actually, my dream is to have my paintings in every home, office and hotel in Townsville and beyond. I love bringing a fresh burst of colour and unique dynamic to each and every space – whether new or old.” Brenda’s work can be viewed at: www.brendastoneabstractart.com.au or you can follow her on www.facebook.com/ BrendaStoneArt and instagram.com/brendastoneart.
