Energy efficiency partners sought Louth County Council is calling on local community groups, sports facilities, private businesses and public sector organisations with advanced proposals for energy efficiency upgrade projects in 2016 to contact it, with a view to partnering on a funding application to the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
Some €20million of funding will be available under the SEAI’s 2016 Better Energy Communities scheme, which is due to open shortly. Funding of close to €1million was secured for the “Louth Smart Energy” project under the 2015 scheme, which was lodged by Louth County Council and Casala of Dundalk Institute of Tech-
nology. Commenting, Barry Woods, Executive Engineer with Louth County Council, said: “The competition for funding was extremely fierce and we were delighted to have been awarded €900,000 of grant aid. The Louth projects funded under the 2015 scheme have now been completed and have provided
individual and community benefits, offering energy savings of some €270,000 and providing significant expenditure of over €2million in the local economy during a five month period.” Interested organisations can visit http:// www.seai.ie/Grants/ Better_Energy_Communities/ for further information on the project.
