The fifth year students in A.C.S. took part in a sponsored walk in the Cooley Mountains in aid in aid of the Peter Mc Verry Trust, a society which helps combat homelessness. The students were inspired to do this after watching a documentary as part of their religious education programme. The hike raised €1,305. A cheque was presented by Paul Malone, 5th Year student.

Cleaner stole money from safe Fundraiser for Louth A part-time cleaner who stole almost €1,900 from her employer’s safe was told that if she paid the remaining compensation of €410, her case would be dealt with leniently. Jana Gaziova of 13 Williamsons Place, Dundalk, was given until April 12 to pay the money as her case was adjourned at Dundalk District Court. Evidence was given that on May 25, Gardai were called to

Riva Restaurant where they were informed by the owner that a staff member had stolen €1,860 from a safe and the offence was captured on CCTV. When Ms Gaziova was arrested she handed back €1,450, while Sgt Fintan McGroder stated that the theft required some planning. Rose trip to Chernobyl

Louth Rose Megan Ferguson is travelling over to the Adi Roche Chernobly Children Foundation next month to provide badly needed help with the victims of the disaster with her fellow roses. There will be a fundraiser night in the Carlingford arms this Thursday January 5 at 8pm with an Irish themed night.
