A lot has changed in telecommunications since DRN, our parent company, started as a telephone cooperative providing service to rural North Dakota in 1950. Today, DRN’s cooperative network serves 32 communities and its infrastructure is 100% fiber-optic providing Gigabit speed Internet and other vital connections.

For 70 years, DRN has been working hard to provide the latest state-of-the-art communications services.

DRN invested more than $90 million to complete one of the first 100% fiber-to-the-home projects in the nation.

The fiber project was completed in 2012 and provides our cooperative members with high-quality and high-speed telecommunications services.

DRN was named a Smart Rural Community

Showcase Award winner in 2013 for its achievements in bringing broadband for education and other vital public functions to a rural area.

In 2015, DRN received the NTCA Gig-Capable

Certification for its 100% gigabit-capable network—100 times faster than what is currently available to many U.S. households.
