Dr. Kamran Massoumi

Dr. Kamran Massoumi is an esteemed ophthalmologist and the founder of the Oklahoma Eye Institute and Omni Surgical Center in Lawton, Oklahoma. Born in 1967 in Tehran, Iran, he comes from a family with a rich heritage in politics and medicine. His paternal grandfather was a high-ranking political and military officer under the Shah’s regime, and his maternal grandfather was a pioneering ophthalmologist who helped establish Iran’s first ophthalmology department. After moving to the United States in 1983 due to the Iran-Iraq War, he settled in Marin County, California. He excelled academically at Marin Catholic High School and went on to attend the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned degrees in Medical Physics and Middle Eastern Studies. His medical journey continued at St. Louis University Medical School, where he earned his MD with a distinction in research. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. Initially planning to return to California, Dr. Massoumi was compelled to stay in Western Oklahoma after recognizing the region's acute need for ophthalmological services. He joined BVA in 2002, significantly improving local eye care. In 2014, he founded the Oklahoma Eye Institute, greatly expanding the availability of specialized eye care services by introducing advanced technologies. He also established the Omni Surgical Center in Lawton and an office-based operating room in Elk City. These facilities have reduced the need for residents to travel extensive distances for care, enhancing the accessibility and quality of medical services in the area. Married to a professional who holds a master’s degree in International Business from Webster University, Dr. Massoumi has two daughters. The elder is pursuing a dual graduate degree in law and healthcare management at the University of Oklahoma, while the younger is preparing to attend Oklahoma State University. The family shares a passion for martial arts, with each member holding a black belt in Taekwondo.
