848 Post Medieval ‘Morior ut videam HS’ Gold and Enamel Mourning Ring Circa 17th-18th century AD. A cast gold finger ring with hatched surface acting as a key for panels of black and white geometric enamel decoration; the bezel a plain white elliptical panel; on the interior the text ‘Morior vt videam HS’ followed by an indecipherable maker’s mark within a rectangle. Gold, 2.44 grams, 17.41 mm overall. (Approximate size British F 1/2, USA 3, Europe 4.14, Japan 4). A gold finger ring comprising a plain D-section hoop rising to elaborately scrolled shoulders; the bezel set with an elliptical red and white glass intaglio depicting a crenellated tower behind a rache or hunting dog on a leash. Gold and glass, 5.02 grams, 21.45 mm overall (Approximate size British N, USA 6 3/4, Europe 13.85, Japan 13).
