MATTIE HOLZMEISTER

Fort Hays State University

Mattie Holzmeister is a senior studying animal science and ag business at Fort Hays State University. After graduating in May 2022, she plans to attend graduate school, specializing in ruminant nutrition. Ultimately, her goal is a career in feedlot nutrition consultation, a field she was drawn to because of her desire to help producers produce great quality beef animals.

Mattie thoroughly enjoyed her summer 2021 internship with PAC. One highlight was seeing feedlots of different sizes and how each feedlot is different from another. Another highlight was meeting great people in the feedlot industry and building connections with several PAC veterinarians. She shared, “My experience with PAC is one I will never forget. The veterinarians were all so kind and willing to help me gain experience and learn about feedlot management as well as nutrition.”

Raised in Oakley, Kansas, Mattie has always been connected to agriculture. She grew up around horses and cattle, both at home and while assisting farmers and ranchers with feedlots and cow-calf herds. She enjoys team roping with her dad when she has time, as well as playing golf and spending time with her four nieces and one nephew.
