MY TAKE

Nobis Hospitality has created a pioneering 21st Century wellness statement

Alina Hernandez, founder, Wellness Innovation Hub

Hagastrand Stockholm

Alina Hernandez visits Hagastrand, which is part of the Autograph Collection

To step foot into the world of Stockholm’s newly opened Hagastrand, Autograph Collection, is to enter a re-imagined postmodern wellness urban destination.

The hotel, by Nobis Hospitality Group, is a carefully crafted ecosystem with interiors influenced by the surrounding nature of the Royal Haga Park. Housed in a historic building on a hilltop overlooking the Brunnsviken lake, Stockholm is visible in the distance.

■ Hagastrand Spa has a 60-person event sauna

The property’s 215 newly-renovated guest rooms are a thoughtful homage to preserved Nordic architectural heritage with a signature flair. Created for social wellness, the design of the common spaces is focused on light and balance.

Hagastrand Spa

The property's Hagastrand Spa’s avantgarde wellness offering confidently establishes the property at the cutting-edge of spa and wellness experiences, with design rooted in naturalistic futurism.

The space delivers on the vision of Nobis Hospitality Group’s head of wellness, Alla Sokolova. The internationally-renowned wellness expert has a gift for identifying innovation and matching it with heart and soul.

The concept balances modern life with Nordic tranquillity, offering a sanctuary for silence, connection to the self and others through contemplation, renewal and creativity. Sokolova invites guests to partake in'mindful moments and to embrace presence. The experience is inspired

by 'Swedish happiness', with its hallmarks of trust, the freedom to invest time with family, friends and fun – and a connection to nature.

Spa experiences

The 2,500sq m spa is one of the largest in Scandinavia, with its focus on social wellness and a thermal circuit bathing. It blends opportunities for touchless wellness with massage therapy for a holistic approach and has two single and two couples’ treatment rooms.

It’s a phone-free spa – a nod to the greater global trend of offline clubs and events. Phones are secured in magnetic locking pouches at reception – nudging behaviour brilliantly.

A thermal wellness area designed for contrast therapy includes saunas, experience showers and a hammam. There's also a snowroom from TechnoAlpin Indoor that offers a biophilic environment and a gentle cooldown.

A 60-person event sauna is used to host bespoke Aufguss sessions curated for connection, entertainment and health benefits.

The concept offers a sanctuary for silence and connection through contemplation, renewal and creativity

The spa’s Gongmatic installation is the first experience room of its kind outside Italy. The space combines ancient gong sound healing with modern technology to create a powerful sensory and meditative encounter that requires no staff to operate.

A separate Frequency Room features technology offering binaural vibroacoustics for touchless wellness solutions.

Visiting wellness experts, resident artists and musicians keep the offering fresh and attract repeat custom, while a partnership with mind: body workout specialists, Sanctum provides mindful movement.

The vision for Hagastrand’s wellness facilities has taken more than two years of effort by the Nobis team to bring to fruition and the result is a pioneering 21st Century wellness experience. ●

State of the industry

SpaChina editor and founder, Fifi Kao, kicked things o with her annual report on the state of the Chinese spa industry, which is definitely experiencing some challenges.

Spending on emotional wellness, sports and fitness is on the rise, but the mass market is under pressure amid a drop in the number of middle class consumers and a decline in spending of 5-20 per cent among remaining consumers.

Kao believes that besides economic pressures, these issues have been exacerbated by severe over-capacity, homogenisation of

In more positive news, the high-end market remains strong and cross-industry innovation is creating interesting new experiences. These include businesses that blend wellness and light medical aesthetics with coffee/ tea culture, art exhibitions and concerts.

Awards ceremony

Environmental entertainment

Studio Apostoli and Balich Wonder Studio create immersive concept Arché Water Path Luxury Experience

Studio Apostoli has designed an immersive water-based spa experience called Arché Water Path Luxury Experience, based on a concept by live entertainment production company Balich Wonder Studio. The modular concept is sold as a product for di erent environments to deliver long-lasting benefits for operators. The various modules can be independent or be combined.

The design

Balich Wonder Studio developed the concept, while Studio Apostoli developed the layout, wellness treatments and entertainment technologies.

Water is a key design motif, representing the origin of wellbeing. Arché also takes its name from the Ancient Greek meaning of origin and beginnings.

Alberto Apostoli, founder of Studio Apostoli, said: “At Arché Water

Path Luxury Experience wellness is ‘on demand’ and tailored to the needs of each guest as well as the requirements of the hospitality venue.”

Modular bathing zones

The zones that can be interconnected to create the full bathing circuit start with an entry space called Threshold, which features a suspended walkway over water, with waterfalls. Guests then enter the Purification Tunnel, a mist-filled space to help guests

transition into the bathing circuit and disconnect from the outside world.

A circular Aquatic Maze is divided into a swimming pool, hot tub and showers. There is also a beach of dark volcanic sand, digitally-projected wall patterns and soundscapes.

Next, an underwater passage called Navel leads to a bioluminescent cave.

Concentric tunnels called Latitudes replicate contrasting planetary environments, such as deserts and jungles.

■ The di erent modular zones can be combined in various configurations depending on the operating venue's requirements

The entertainment component is a central element, responding to the trend for structured wellness journeys

The Greenhouse module houses a tropical garden for food and a Biosphere cubic space with LED screens displays natural phenomena.

Lynton Lasers launches "collagen banking" laser RedTouch Pro by Deka Lasers

Aesthetic technology distributor Lynton Lasers has launched a laser manufactured by Italian medical systems company Deka Lasers called RedTouch Pro. The device is one of the first non-invasive laser systems that is said to directly and selectively stimulate collagen. It has been developed to meet consumer demand for regenerative treatments and "collagen banking". This is a trend that involves younger demographics taking supplements and having treatments

to stimulate the production of the protein before it declines.

The 675nm wavelength laser is said to stimulate collagen types I, III and IV without damaging the skin. These collagen types provide structural strength to the dermis and can also be found in muscles, blood vessels and organs. The laser has been designed to be safe for anti-ageing treatments, skin laxity, uneven tone and photodamage.

Lynton Lasers also says clinical studies show improvements in skin smoothness and tone after just 3-5 sessions, with zero downtime.

Swissline enters epigenetic skincare with Night Concentrate

Swissline has created a nighttime treatment that uses “longevity molecule” NAD+ for DNA repair and wrinkle reduction, called 360° Collagen Night Concentrate.

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is an essential coenzyme that fuels cellular energy and even influences epigenetic activity – the process by which genes are switched on or off.

As we age, our levels of NAD+ reduce, which can lead to lipid depletion and dryness associated with oestrogen decline.

Swissline’s new formula, however, offers a way to replenish levels of this molecule topically. It uses a plant-based ingredient called Rejuvenad, developed by Mibelle Biochemistry, to boost the skin’s own production of the molecule.

The formula also includes botanical growth factors isolated from seeds to stimulate collagen synthesis and enhance skin firmness and density. The concentrate’s soluble marine collagen is designed
