Student experiences

Sheridan experiences, from students like you

“One piece of advice I would give to newcomers is to get out of your comfort zone and use every resource Sheridan has to offer you. This is how Sheridan has helped me in building my future. As a person, I have grown both personally and professionally here.”

Sharma,

“As an international student, I am able to prioritize my personal life, my educational life and my work life at Sheridan. I work leading campus tours and I’m part of events we put together. Sheridan has definitely made me a leader and a more confident version of myself.”

“Tutoring services and help from my professors were the keys to my success. Everyone is willing to help, so be sure to ask and talk about the things that you’re going through. I was really lucky to end up in Canada and at Sheridan, it is one of the best decisions I’ve made.”

Jose Barboza Garcia, Computer Programming

Current international students share how Sheridan has helped unlock their futures.

“My time at Sheridan College has been amazing. Before coming here, I was feeling lost. The Social Service Worker program came up and I knew it would be a good fit. I also wanted to learn alongside people from other countries, and there are so many international students here. The way we all support each other is very beautiful.”

“When I first came to Sheridan, it was a very welcoming place. If I ever needed help, I knew I could go to their offices and get what I needed from the people there. The environment is so inclusive. It’s a homey feeling.”

“Sheridan helped me come out of my shell and enhance my communication skills. Being here has prepared me for a lot of practical experiences and given me knowledge that I can apply in real life.”

Land acknowledgment

First Nations peoples have lived on this part of Turtle Island for millenia, stewarding the land, the water and all that contributes to life in this region. Today, the culture and presence of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples enrich the lands and people of this territory.

Over two centuries ago, the Mississauga people welcomed settlers to this territory, providing sustenance and engaging in trade and commerce. Between 1781 and 1820, eight treaties were signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation who opened their territory to settlement. Today, Sheridan campuses are located on Treaty 14 land, also known as the Head of the Lake Purchase of 1806, and Treaty 22 and 23 lands of 1820.

Treaty history is foundational, and it is our collective responsibility to honour the land, as we honour and respect those who have gone before us, those who are here and those who have yet to come. We are grateful for the opportunity to be learning, working and thriving on this land, and we commit to learn the truth and be active in the process of reconciliation.

Toronto is Canada’s biggest city and cultural capital. It’s vibrant. It’s eclectic. And it’s close to all Sheridan campuses — accessible by car or transit.
