Will HAA Link work strictly with AudioControl, or will it work with other receiver brands in the future? The hardware must be certified by the HAA. If a manufacturer wants to integrate HAA Link, we work directly with them to implement it, although the HAA CinemaTools app itself can be used as a high-performance audio analysis tool with any preamp processor or AVR. The distinct
Hyperion APR-16 receiver. HAA Link empowers professional integrators to access high-level calibration controls within an AVR that match the precision of expensive standalone processors. For clarification, is HAA Link a service where integrators hire you to calibrate a room, or is it software they license and run themselves? It is software that is built entirely for integrators. During development, we internally called it the “HAA backdoor.” It allows professional integrators to access calibration parameters exposed through our HAA CinemaTools app that consumers normally cannot access.
CinemaTools is an iOS app designed for the iPad to ensure enough screen space for realtime graphs and controls simultaneously. You can use an iPad-compatible microphone interface. We strongly advocate for spatial averaging using multiple microphones. HAA offers a complete kit assembled by Studio Six Digital to ensure calibration consistency across project sites.
"The distinct advantage of using HAA Link with CinemaTools is real-time visual feedback. Whether checking frequency response or energy-time curves, you see the exact effect of your adjustments as you make them — eliminating the process of exiting menus to re-measure." — Gerry Lemay, founder of the HAA
advantage of using HAA Link with CinemaTools is real-time visual feedback. Whether checking frequency response or energy-time curves, you see the exact effect of your adjustments as you make them — eliminating the process of exiting menus to re-measure. What hardware is required to perform these measurements? Does CinemaTools require specific microphone setups?
How does HAA Link assist integrators with upcoming calibration guidelines like RP32? HAA Link operates on the back end during the calibration phase, aligning closely with CEDIA’s RP32 guidelines. Andrew Smith (developer of Studio Six Digital) and I both served on that development group. CinemaTools incorporates new acoustic measurement techniques and checklists derived from those efforts, giving integrators
