EVALUATION PREPARED EVENT SCORING For ICDC, the written entry and presentation are scored separately. Prior to ICDC, a judge will complete the Written Entry Evaluation Form for the written entry, and during ICDC, a judge will complete the Presentation Evaluation Form. Penalty points (see Penalty Point Checklist) will be assessed separately when applicable.

Content Understanding

Demonstrates a limited or inaccurate understanding of key concepts.

Demonstrates a basic understanding of key concepts.

Demonstrates a solid understanding of key concepts and clearly explains and supports ideas using appropriate evidence.

Demonstrates a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of key concepts, including accurate explanations and clear use of relevant evidence to support understanding.

Content Application

Applies content knowledge in a limited or incorrect way.

Applies basic content knowledge to the situation, but connections may be incomplete, superficial, or inconsistent.

Appropriately applies content knowledge to address the situation. Demonstrates clear and relevant connections that support the task.

Strategically applies content knowledge to fully address the situation, including complex or nuanced aspects, resulting in a complete and wellintegrated response.

Reasoning

Ideas are unclear, inaccurate, or lack logical support. There is no application of the ideas and concepts.

Ideas are somewhat logical but contain gaps in reasoning, development, or supporting evidence.

Ideas are logical, well-developed, and supported with appropriate evidence, with only minor gaps.

Ideas are insightful, logical, and strongly supported with relevant evidence, examples, or justification. Demonstrates clear practicality and purpose.

Workplace Readiness

Represents performance that requires significant guidance and support to complete tasks.

Represents performance that demonstrates basic skills and can complete routine tasks with some guidance.

Represents performance with solid skills and works independently to complete tasks effectively.

Represents performance with advanced skills, works independently, and adapts effectively to new or unpredictable challenges.
