Rich, fertile volcanic soil and pure mineral water combine to make the Daylesford and Macedon Ranges region Australia’s best food-producing region. Not many people realise this, but 80% of Australia’s mineral water is found in our little region.

The region has, for many years, led the way in sustainable, small scale, ‘artisanal’ agriculture and a highly connected network of food producers has created a vibrant and progressive group of growers and producers. Farm gates and farmers’ markets are a great way to get your hands on this exceptional produce. However, if you like your food cooked for you, countless restaurants, many ‘hatted’ and renowned around Australia and the world, use this local produce to create amazing and memorable dining experiences.

This is also the highest and coolest wine region on mainland Australia. Again, wineries are small scale and carefully managed, so wine buffs will delight in the elegant and sophisticated wines produced here. We also have some outstanding distilleries, which use our pure, fresh water and local botanicals to produce some exceptional spirits.
