Deaths Edith Bland

Edith Sanford Bland, 80, of Corinth, died on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, while traveling in Florence, Italy. A 70-year resident of Jackson, Miss., Edith was a 1951 graduate of Central High School and a 1955 graduate of Mississippi State College for Women. A traveling enthusiast, she traveled to all 50 states and to 31 countries. She Bell was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and participated in numerous civic, church and volunteer activities. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Corinth and a former communicant of St. James’ Episcopal Church in Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Sanford, and a son, William Jeffrey Bland. She is survived by her husband, Jacob Lenier Bland; a son, Arthur Sanford “Buddy” Bland and wife Tami of Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Bland Bauer and husband Scott of Corinth; a daughter-in-law, Catherine Doan Bland of Germantown, Tenn.; grandchildren Wesley Bland, Brian Bland-Clark, Katie Bland, Evan Bauer, David Bauer, Susannah Bland and Sarah Beth Bland; and great-grandchild Elijah Bland. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Interment and graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson followed by a wake and visitation at Oak Ridge House of St. James’ Episcopal Church. Jonathan Bunch

Jonathan William Bunch, 27, passed away at his residence in Starkville on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013. A memorial service is set for 3 p.m. Sunday at Providence Baptist Church in Grenada. He loved the outdoors, carpentry, music, gardening, growing things, woodworking, camping and kayaking. Jonathan lived in Irving-

ton, Kentucky; Byram, Corinth, Woodville, and Carrollton, Mississippi, with his family as they served in ministry to Baptist Churches. He studied agriculture, engineering and pre-nursing at Mississippi State University and MUW. He was baptized at East Corinth Baptist Church. Jon leaves behind his grieving family and many friends whose lives he has touched. He will be remembered with love. Jonathan was the beloved son of Gary Michael and Connie Marie Ellard Fleming Bunch. He is also survived by his brothers, Daniel Bunch and his wife, Jayme, and Andrew Bunch; a niece, Gracie; grandmothers Jeannette Bunch and Connie Sue Ellard; as well as several, uncles, aunts and cousins. Cathy Jacobsen

Funeral services for Cathy Lassiter Jacobsen of Corinth are set for 3 p.m. today at McPeters Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Jacobsen died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at her home. She was born in Corinth on Jan. 11, 1951, to the late Chad and Maxine Tedford Lassiter. She retired from Happy Days and Farmington Arms Apartments as the manager. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She adored her grandchildren and loved her dogs. Survivors include her husband, Michael Jacobsen; one son, Todd Curtis (Cheramie); one daughter, Amy Curtis; her brother, Phil Lassiter; a sister, Vickie Shwab (Daniel); four grandchildren, Hank, Isabella, Nicholas and Griffin; two half-sisters, Pam Ashlock and Kim Taylor; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time.

Scotty Woodruff

A memorial service for Richard Scott “Scotty” Woodruff of Corinth is set for 2 p.m. Sunday at McPeters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rick Wells officiating. Mr. Woodruff died on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at his residence. He was born on July 18, 1955, to the late John Roscoe and Dorothy Schoenberg Woodruff. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fast cars, woodworking, cooking, reading and swimming. He was a huge Ole Miss fan. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Mike Woodruff; a daughter, Antoinette Clark; and two stepmothers, Elsie and Gladys Woodruff. Survivors include his daughter, Madison Woodruff; one son, Jerry Wadkins and wife Sherra; one brother, Jim Woodruff; two sisters, Judy James and husband Joey and Susan Maxie and husband Mike; four grandchildren, Shelbi, Gage, Justin, and Ashlee; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. ‘Skinny’ Reeves

Funeral services for Charles Robert “Skinny” Reeves, 51, were held Friday at Corinthian Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Fraley’s Chapel Cemetery. CHEROKEE, Ala. — Funeral services for George Malcolm “Mac” Waldrep, 85, are set for 3 p.m. today at Allsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cherokee with burial at the church cemetery. Visitation is from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the church. Mr. Waldrep died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Helen Keller Hospital in Tuscumbia, Ala. Born May 1, 1928, he retired from Reynolds Aluminum and was a member of Allsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder for 55 years. Survivors include three children, George Dexter Waldrep (Melba) of Florence, Ala., Malcom Patrick Waldrep (Wanda) of Cherokee and Angela Dale Johnson (Jimmy) of Cherokee; a brother, Omar Patrick “Pat” Waldrep (Jane) of Cherokee; and a granddaughter, Sarah Britney Waldrep. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary Jane Dexter Waldrep, and his parents, George and Ruby Mae Waldrep. Dr. Don Thomas and the Rev. J.B. Burns will officiate the service. Cutshall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
