Chagrin Valley entrepreneurs launch new luxe clothing line By MICHELE COLLINS Two entrepreneurs with roots in the Chagrin Valley are thrilled to see their dream of a “sportyluxe” clothing line come to a reality over the past year. Kimberley Milstein and Jennnifer Adams, who have been friends for 20 years, each bring a unique skill set to Tassley, the clothing line which, as they shared, “blends our backgrounds in design and merchandising, with a shared vision, to create a sporty-luxe lifestyle brand rooted in meaning, symbolism, and ease.” Tassley features tunics and tops, dresses and skirts which enable women to take part in many kinds of leisure and recreation activities, all while looking great in items that are easy to care for. Their signature looks include colorful hand-screened prints which feature gold tassels and gold leaf, a fashion signature which they believe will become a recognized icon for their brand. “Tassels, with their timeless symbolism, evoke a sense of luck, protection, achievement, and distinctive, elevated elegance,” shared Kimberley in describing why they chose to feature the hand-screened symbols on their clothing items. “Jenn was a designer of couture coats and I had spent time creating belts and handbags, and together, we wanted to create a line that women would love to wear, had special trims and designs, and would provide them with an ease of living, but that they could also just throw in the wash, or pack for a trip.” Kimberley started in the fashion business as a lifestyles model, earned a degree in fashion merchandising and spent much of her career creating belts and handbags. Jennifer, a Kenston High School and Kent State graduate, is a graphic designer, who also worked in the fashion industry. Together they combined their skills, and their long-time friendship, to create a business in Northeast Ohio. “Building this here at home has been especially meaningful,” Kimberley shared. for a special event, like a bridal or baby shower, and there are items for golf and tennis, sports that Kimberley and Jennifer both enjoy. “You can truly wear our pieces from the golf course to the country club afterward,” shared Kimberely. True to their roots in the Chagrin Valley, Tassley also includes items for the equestrian crowd. In fact, as observant shoppers peruse their website at tassley.com or on Instagram @tassleycollection, they might see a familiar backdrop. “We used the Chagrin Valley Farms in Chagrin Falls as our photo shoot location,” said Kimberley. “And they were so helpful and kind. They even carefully brushed their beautiful horse so it would shine brilliantly in our photos.” The Tassley creators feel a connection to the local area, and will share their new clothing line as a way to help raise money for causes that are especially meaningful to their hearts. This summer they will be part of the Summer Solstice fundraiser for Hopewell Therapeutic Farm. Kimberley, who is a graduate of Ursuline College, in Pepper Pike, and sat on its board for ten years, is proud to have Tassley involved with the Arrows Golf Scramble event that supports Ursuline’s women’s golf program. The two Tassley founders have discussed possibly having a showcase of their pieces in the area at a later date. But for now, the entrepreneurs are taking their Tassley line on the road, showing it at the PGA shops show, Dallas Mart and Americas Mart. They plan to have their line for sale in country club shops, and at women’s and resort boutiques in the near future. “We honestly dream of seeing the word “Tassley” in the dictionary some day, with a picture of one of our clothing items - with the gold tassel design of course– right next to that entry,” Kimberley shared with a smile.
