Services were held on Sunday, March 27 at Canaan Grove M. B. Church, Mason, with burial in Kingshill Cemetery, Brighton. She leaves to celebrate her life two children: Dortha Glasper of Mason, and Roberta (Willie James) Taylor of Dayton Ohio, brother Charles Dowell of Memphis, eight grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. Preceding her in transition are her parents, Fred and Mamie Lee Dowell, husband Brock Hall Sr., children Wilbert (Frances) Hall, Brock (Susan) Hall Jr. and siblings James (Lina B.) Lula Washington Date of Death – March 23, 2011 Mother Lula Washington passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at her Mason residence. Funeral services took place on Saturday, March 26 at Alexander M.B. Church in Somerville with burial in Pulliam Cemetery, Somerville. She leaves to celebrate her life 13 children: Ralph Washington Jr., Roosevelt (Maxcine) Washington Sr., Charlie Washington Sr., William (Marchell) Washington Sr. and Cherry Washington, all of St. Louis, Mo., Joe Henry Washington Sr. of Covington; Haley (Julius) Williamson III and Carolyn (Terry) Taalib-Din, both of Cordova; Belinda (Ike) Springfield Jr. and Willie Washington, both of Mason; and Brenda (Dan) Robinson, Larry (LaWanda) Washington Sr. and Sandra (Willie) Johnson Jr., all of Memphis. Mrs. Washington also leaves her brother Charles (Elois) Richardson of St. Louis, Mo., 44 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren. Pamela Kay Hanks March 12, 1953 – March 25, 2011 Pamela Kay Hanks, 58, of Brighton, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis on Friday, March 25, 2011. Born in Memphis, she was a cafeteria monitor at Brighton Elementary and was a member of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 29 at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Buchanan officiating. She was buried at Covington Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Hanks is survived by her husband, Dennis, of Brighton, son Jason Hanks of Brighton and sister Phyllis Smith of Covington. She was preceded in death by siblings David Beasley and Donna C. Helen Marie Bockman, 63, retired civil service employee, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Methodist Hospital North. A memorial service was held Tuesday, March 29, at Munford First United Methodist Church. Helen had lived in the Munford community for 40 years. A Methodist by faith, she formerly attended New Salem Methodist Church in Gilt Edge. By her wishes, her body was donated to UT Memphis for medical research. Originally from Grand Isle, Neb., Helen served in the U. S. Navy at Naval Air Station Millington. She later worked as an accountant at Naval Hospital Millington and the Naval Regional Medical Center Branch Clinic. She also worked at Macy’s Oak Court as a sales associate. She was a graduate of Geneva High School in Geneva, Neb. and Memphis Business College. She is survived by her close friends and care givers, Kevin and Amanda Durham of Drummonds, Keith and Barbara Dwyer of Hollywood, Fla., and Amy and Kenneth Turnage of Munford; her brothers, Wayne (MaryAnn) Bockman and Roy Bockman of Grand Isle, Neb.; sisters, Luci Bockman of Lincoln, Neb. and Doris Perkins and Katherine Archer of Billings, Mont.; her cousin, Darlene (Steve) Wheeler of Grand Isle; son, Kevin, of Colorado; former stepsons, Kevin Fletcher (Tammy) of Katy, Texas and Farris Wayne Fletcher (Dana) of Castilian Springs, Tenn. and the large, extended families of those named above. Danny Jay Atkins February 1, 1955 – March 27, 2011 Danny Jay Atkins, 56 of Munford, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Methodist Hospital North, Memphis, . Funeral Services were held Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 3 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, Miss. with Bro. Michael D. Rogers officiating. Interment will be in Tabernacle UMC Cemetery, Ethelsville, Ala. with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, Miss. directing. Mr. Atkins was born Feb. 1, 1955 in Columbus, Miss. to Mary Martha Weathers Atkins, Munford, and the late Louis Stillman Atkins. He was a selfemployed automobile salesman for the past 34 years. Mr. Atkins was an excellent level 5 tennis player, an avid Harley motorcycle rider, loved to fish and more than anything, spending time with his son. He was a member of Covington Church of Christ, Covington. In addition to his mother, Mr. Atkins is survived by his son, Danny Jay “D.J.� Atkins, Jr., Covington; sister, Robin (Michael) Racine, Sr., Burlison; brothers Kenneth Atkins, Covington, and Todd (Sharon) their Annual Habitat for Humanity Fish Fry from 5-8 p.m. April 8.
