KINDNESS

Continued from Page A1 “I was flabbergasted,” added Rollo. “I had never experienced anything thing like this in my life. I was just amazed because it was just out of the blue. He didn’t know us from sour apple butter or we him, and I just thought, ‘holy cow, there are some good people left in this world.’ “We need to let other people know that this happens,” continued Rollo. “This is something everyone can do from time to time, a random type thing.“ June said random acts of kindness don’t have to be elaborate or costly. Sometimes a simple smile can mean a lot to

someone. “If I go out any place I make sure that I look you in the eye and smile. To me that’s passing on a good feeling. I care about you. I want to look you in the eye and let you know that. Today, if we feel that no one cares about us, we’re kind of lost.”

The Rollos aren’t sure of how they will repay the kindness of their lunchtime benefactor, but they said it will be done. “I don’t know whether it will be to pick up someone’s tab at a restaurant or to go to TCCA to volunteer in someway,” said June.

“It should be very spontaneous,” added John, interrupting. “You know, not a planned program cause there are a lot of different programs and they are good programs but it needs to just be out of the blue, a random act of kindness.” “I have always believed that we are to be a witness to Jesus Christ,” said June. “What he did for us, we are to pass it on. So my prayer every day is, ‘Lord, let me touch someone today but let them not see me, but let them see you in me.’ That’s what were talking about. That caring, loving spirit that he brought into the world and that’s what we need to pass on.”

New water tower under construction in Munford By ECHO DAY eday@covingtonleader.com MUNFORD – Construction has begun on a new water tower which officials say will improve the city's infrastructure. Located on Ellis Drive, on the old Ellis School property, the water tower will help the city meet state requirements for water supply reserves, mayor Dwayne Cole said. "The state requires us to have a portion of our average daily water usage in reserves and this will help us meet that," he said. The new water tower will add 500,000 gallons of holding and service capacity as well as enhance the infrastructure needed to support future residential and retail growth and fire protection. Construction began two months ago and the mayor believes the project will be completed ahead of schedule. "We had a one-year contract," Cole said. "I expect to be finished by the end of summer." Construction of the water tower is expected to cost $1.3 million dollars, Cole said. Partial funding of the project came from a Community Development
